Surprised by this talk, as much as I personally don't particularly rate the lad, Zinchenko's never come across as someone who'd upset the apple cart and make a scene, if anything I've always regarded him as someone who'd sacrifice quite a bit for the team/squad, seems odd to me and out of character if true.

He's not been linked to us, but apparently Lyon have dropped their demand to 40m euros for Aouar

Think Arteta will get him now FFS

Was the ideal Gundogan long term replacement

Here’s my take on Zin:

I quite like him as a bloke and a player. I’ve seen more than one performance at LB where I would have given him MOTM but at LB long term he isn’t the answer as first or second pick.

Where Zin is worth keeping is that people forget how young he is and that he will still improve. Most importantly he is possibly one of our best utility players and can cover a lot of positions in an emergency. Every squad needs a Swiss Army knife.

The main argument to him leaving seems to be that we need the NHG space to sign a left back.

1. I’m not sure that’s true
2. If it is true then sell Garcia

Zin is not preventing us from signing a left back which, I agree, we seem to need. The two topics are not related.

Sign a left back and keep our Swiss Army Knife.

If selected

Or if in Pep's plans at all

Who knows

i guess Zin staying is relevant in a system where we have our DMs and CBs sorted. In such a scenario he could be very useful to the system.
As some other posters have mentioned before:
we have three problem areas CB LB DM
Under Pep we have seen that if two of those three issues are sorted we can run for the league and stay competitive in CL
The two title winning seasons the CB and DM positions were at the top of the game hence we were able to dominate
Excelling in all 3 positions will positions we will be world beaters but asking new players in three positions would be too much for even for a club like City. That were Pep's technical brilliance should come into play.
Right now our CB position has been sorted and we have one recognised LB and three players(Ake Zin Cancelo) that can play there but its not their natural position so i will say its 1.5 problem solved out of three.
Pep sorting out the DM position would make it 2.5 which will be enough to win the league imho. So i am very eager to see how will our midfield will look in the coming matches. Also a pivot of Rodri Gunda doesn't work.
Ferna Rodri pivot is somewhat better. Hence I was hoping for a Aouar Rodri or a Thiago Rodri pivot. I am still hoping for Pep to do his magic here if there are no incoming signings.

Everyone keeps saying he can play in different positions and is valuable for that reason but Pep seemingly has no interest in playing him anywhere other than LB. You can make as many arguments as you want but the fact is that Pep would have Rodri, Gundogan, Fernandinho, Foden, Bernardo, KDB, Mahrez and probably Palmer now ahead of Zinch in any midfield position.

He looks great playing for Ukraine in a midfield spot then comes back to City and is either in the stands or playing LB against Oxford in the Carabao.

If he stays then it is because we can't get another LB over the line and Pep at least knows he can play that position and knows what is expected.

He doesn't seem to kick up a fuss and seems a nice enough lad so I presume Pep won't be too bothered keeping him round the club unless of course his missus's vlog last season has ruined all the trust he had in him.

Agree but I still think we will sign a LB this window.
Next season, when we have space, we will get a striker and a midfielder (Fern leaves)

Window officially closed And done for us.

I imagine that's from an incoming sense, rather than outgoing? Given we have players like Garcia and Tosin due to leave and are effectively redundant at this point. Think we've massively bottled it if Garcia is still here next week.

I think it's a shame we're not signing another LB, but I think we should be giving Ake a good go there now that Dias is here and Laporte is fit again.
