We did what? With who? Torres is decent but he'll never be as good as Sane, especially not in the next 3/4 years.

This window is heavily reliant on Laporte and Ruben forming a solid partnership. If Diaz struggles or either get injured we're in the shit. In just over 12 months we've lost Sane, Kompany and Silva - three huge players not just talent wise but personalities. We haven't replaced them with anywhere near their quality so if this transfer deadline day passes with no further signings then it will be a disappointing transfer window that promised so much a few weeks ago.

What based off 2 games? For what it’s worth Sane did precisely fuck all for us in at least his first 6 months. Give the lad a chance ffs.

It’s poor not signing a left back

It’s the position we are weakest

We have only signed 1 in 10 years and he’s blown his knee out

been trying to get away with it for 4 seasons now

I’m suprised Mendy hasn’t got injured again already having to play every 3 days

Think he will be better than Sane, better than Sane's potential maybe not, but don't think Sane reached his potential enough or will.

We were touting 300 Million dollar war chests to the media and pumping out chests out, and we capitulated across the board.

Were we fuck. That was all liverpool loving media, for a variety of reasons too expansive for a response at this point

With respect, can I ask how you know that Torres won't be as good as Sane? I'm presuming you followed him at Valencia enough to know he won't be, and not just on the games he's played for us so far? Someone else on here, Fordboy?, yesterday said we have made no exciting signings. Sorry, but a sought after winger with the reputation Torres looks to have had in his homeland is pretty bloody exciting.

In years past City have made it clear when the window is done and dusted for us.

All the journos have been briefed, with City saying incomings are "unlikely".

Leaving the door open...

Tagliafico would seem an easy deal to do, for a relatively low fee.

I think we'll spend the day trying to ship out Zinny.

Surely it doesn't take all day to clear his locker out, throw his stuff in the car park and tell his missus to go fuck herself?

Are you sure you’ve actually been watching the whole games? He’s had some good moments followed by his usual brain dead defending. He’s useless in a top team and we need to get rid.
He's been out for a considerable amount of time. If he stays fit which is a big IF I really think he will grow into a world class player. He has so much in his locker

Well I do live 5 minutes from Valencia's training ground but that's beside the point. Sane was a superstar with balon d'or potential. I like Torres and he played well on Saturday but he won't be near Sane's quality for a few years and even then his ceiling isn't close.

I think Torres will be a superior player to Leroy, who I loved.
Leroy was devastating with space in behind and he could really finish. With the best will in the world, he was not the same player for us after the first seasons due to injury and then, seemingly, a reluctance to stick to the brief he had been given: I watched him fail to track back on numerous occasions leaving the left-back exposed. In our system, it is essential that the wingers apply pressure, pushing the opposition wingers back and providing doubling up against the opponent's flank players. For whatever reason, Leroy had stopped doing that and looked as if he had lost interest. I speak as someone who genuinely believed that he was a potential worldy.
Ferran is a different kind of player - less athletic but cleverer and with better feet, both of them. I believe that he is a better crosser and passer of the ball and that he will create and score many goals. If I am right, he will be brilliant for us, especially against solid banks of four that we seem to face most weeks.

Ffs of course if Dias gets injured we’re in the shit. What we gonna do buy another fucking centre back? Jesus wept man

We havent signed a lb because our hierarchy would blow another £50m-£60m on an attacking threat that cant defend and we’d be no better off than we are now.

They cant understand that a lb should cost £10m-£20m max. in this market and we’d have that if we sold our 5th choice cb to barca. We have it now anyway.

Our best lb in the last 5 years has been Delph and even he got found out positionally fairly regularly.

All your lb needs to do is defend well and be able to pass to the midfield. For the most part delph did that and he was a regular in our best team in recent memory. Get back to that.

Shame Sane was lazy as fuck then

You're aware of how shit we've been since Sane was injured/left? Replacing a player to fill a shirt isn't the same as replacing the quality of a player.

I can't argue with that if you live in Valencia. I respectfully hope you are wrong, however.

You seem completely unaware how little Sane played the year we won a domestic clean sweep and got 98 points, and completely unaware how highly rated Torres is, and the player he could become.

Oh come off it Sane isn’t the reason we’re not good anymore. Lack of Vinny is one problem and the loss of Dinho’s legs in midfield contribute. I don’t doubt Sane is good but seriously

So many things wrong in here it's hard to know where to start. To think that Torres is anywhere near Sane is just fan boy stuff.

Point nailed. No team in history repeatedly buy players just in case others get injured.

Regarding Kompany, we have bought Dias and Ake. If either is injured, we have Stones, THB, Garcia, Mendy and Zinchenko as cover. You may not like them, but there is no other team in the PL with that quality of back up.

Regarding the replacement of Silva, you could argue that he is irreplaceable as one of the world's greatest midfielders of the last decade. Equally, you could argue that in Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva, we have excellent players of potential world-class, ready to occupy his position.

Regarding Leroy, I believe that Ferran will prove to be his equal, at least. It's a matter of opinion and time whether that proves to be the case.

I don't know you Jay_mcfc but your point marks you out as presumptuous and rude.

I am 52, born in Moss Side and have been a City fan from then, as are all my family. I am a fan of Leroy, I made that clear, but I believe, having watched Ferran since he was 17, that he has equal, if not superior, potential. That you disagree does not give you the right to lower yourself to 'fan-boy' criticisms, you just have a different opinion.
