As much as I like Tosin, there is a big difference between a 23 year old who played a handful of games at City a 3 or 4 years ago, before a couple of loans in the championship, the latter of which was very successful. And a 20 year old who has played twice as many games for the club, is rated higher by Pep and is a full Spain international wanted by Barca.

Rightly or wrongly, that's how I see it.

The club are not so wasteful with money when it comes to the obligatory £20 a year on season ticket prices.

Yes of course,they were never going to fire us to trophy winning glory as part of our first 11,but neither were they given the chance to be a part of the squad.Mee may be at Burnley,but he Captained them for many seasons and was always very steady( something many of our defenders have struggled with) Denayer is content at Lyon,a team that blew us away recently in a game in which he performed well.

Boateng and Savic,while circumstances were difficult when they wore our shirt,are the big ones that got away.

I'm not criticising as shit happens,but had we managed them differently.......who knows?

Tosin - I think he is good enough for 4th choice and with Garcia and THB also in the squad we have some options.

Dias - he was not our 1st choice. When you cant get your 1st choice player then you have the options of going down the list or giving your youth a chance. There is a balance and I would not have signed him. I would have stuck with what we have (Laporte, Stones, Ake + youth players). You cant demand we make shit loads of signings and also bitch and moan when we let youth players leave for small beans.

Might have been the only choice from a Premier League perspective, Championship clubs would have been interested after his season at Blackburn.

The thing with 4th choice centre backs is they aren't really 4th choice, in our squad Stones is 2nd choice RCB, Ake 2nd choice LCB. So any injury and the so called 4th centre back is playing and being relied on, Tosin wasn't that player, neither is Garcia. There is a space for a 5th centre back but at 23 not Tosin it needs to be a player that doesn't need to play regularly and has time to improve, so for me THB.
Think you're wrong about Dias too but that's a different debate and one to proven one way or the other.

Wish the lad all the very best, always saw him as a very neat and tidy player, just seemed to lack that aggression and physicality that I personally prefer in any centre back, he'll go on to have a very good career I'm sure regardless.

Pep has played 2x right footed CBs numerous times. Yes the preference is a natural right and left sided player but before Laporte I don't think we had a left footed CB.

I hope i'm wrong with Dias. But he seems to me to be a player that was a couple of rungs down the list. I like the Ake signing and I think we have a number of decent options at right sided CB including Fernadinho and Walker if it came to it. Personally I would have gone with what we have and gone back to the list next summer.

Who do you believe was first choice? and what do you not like about Dias?

So despite our defense being our down fall last year you would not improve if in fact might make it worse
