Yeah but I really really want to play for us so that should be taken into consideration.I heard your potential is sadly all behind you)

It does look like a ridiculous fee but we can only accept what others are willing to pay or keep a player who wants to leave and let him go for free at the end of the season.
For me, with a year left on his deal, he was worth £10m. So we've, if you like, lost 8 million, but we've got the deal done and made a loyal player (and local lad) happy.
With Garcia, we've lost about 8 million pounds in guaranteed cash, and another 6 or 7 million in add ons. But the club have clearly made the call that the message this sends out to clubs like Barca is more important. Also, Garcia is more likely to be used by Pep.
As much as I like Tosin, there is a big difference between a 23 year old who played a handful of games at City a 3 or 4 years ago, before a couple of loans in the championship, the latter of which was very successful. And a 20 year old who has played twice as many games for the club, is rated higher by Pep and is a full Spain international wanted by Barca.
Rightly or wrongly, that's how I see it.
Yes of course, they were never going to fire us to trophy winning glory as part of our first 11,but neither were they given the chance to be a part of the squad.Mee may be at Burnley, but he Captained them for many seasons and was always very steady( something many of our defenders have struggled with) Denayer is content at Lyon,a team that blew us away recently in a game in which he performed well.Mee plays for Burnley (it's even his partner that giants west ham/Leicester prefer) Rekik is at Berlin (had to google that) neither internationals, and Tosin will be in the championship next season (excellent career?)...Denayer is not a Lyon player other sides are falling over to buy!
Whilst you could debate Deneyer.... can you see why we didn't keep the others?
You honestly think Tosin has the ability to be as good as Dias? Or am I reading that wrong?
Fair enough. Can’t agree but no biggie.Tosin - I think he is good enough for 4th choice and with Garcia and THB also in the squad we have some options.
Dias - he was not our 1st choice. When you cant get your 1st choice player then you have the options of going down the list or giving your youth a chance. There is a balance and I would not have signed him. I would have stuck with what we have (Laporte, Stones, Ake + youth players). You cant demand we make shit loads of signings and also bitch and moan when we let youth players leave for small beans.
Might have been the only choice from a Premier League perspective, Championship clubs would have been interested after his season at Blackburn.Unfortunately the lack of competitors for his signature would say different.
Decent defenders are few and far between, 2m is a bargain but even at that price his only choice was Fulham.
The thing with 4th choice centre backs is they aren't really 4th choice, in our squad Stones is 2nd choice RCB, Ake 2nd choice LCB. So any injury and the so called 4th centre back is playing and being relied on, Tosin wasn't that player, neither is Garcia. There is a space for a 5th centre back but at 23 not Tosin it needs to be a player that doesn't need to play regularly and has time to improve, so for me THB.Tosin - I think he is good enough for 4th choice and with Garcia and THB also in the squad we have some options.

Were did I mention txiki? They would of been willing to pay us more if that wasn't the case. Nothing to do with Txiki.

Think you're wrong about Dias too but that's a different debate and one to proven one way or the other.
I would not have got anyone I would have gone with Laporte, Stones, Fernandinho, Tosin, THB. I would also plan to use Walker as a CB as well if need be.
Matija Nastasic could be added to that list as well, imo.Savic definitely, his issues were mainly surrounding his home life which affected his form,he has developed into a good un and would have saved us plenty of heartache and cash had we stuck with him.
Denayer,Rekik,Mee,and now Tosin (even Boateng might have been handled better?) were never developed properly here - we werent patient enough and saw the cheque book as the best fix.
Hindsight perhaps, but all the above have carved out excellent careers for themselves.
I thought he had a very fair crack, possibly more than he should have.....as by the time we shipped him out,his weaknesses were very apparent.Matija Nastasic could be added to that list as well, imo.
Who do you believe was first choice? and what do you not like about Dias?Pep has played 2x right footed CBs numerous times. Yes the preference is a natural right and left sided player but before Laporte I don't think we had a left footed CB.
I hope i'm wrong with Dias. But he seems to me to be a player that was a couple of rungs down the list. I like the Ake signing and I think we have a number of decent options at right sided CB including Fernadinho and Walker if it came to it. Personally I would have gone with what we have and gone back to the list next summer.
Do we really have to do this thing where we pretend Koulibaly wasn't the first choice for centerback?Who do you believe was first choice? and what do you not like about Dias?
I'd hope he wasn't.I can't see any reason why he would have been.Do we really have to do this thing where we pretend Koulibaly wasn't the first choice for centerback?
Fair enough. He seems to be doing all right for himself.I thought he had a very fair crack, possibly more than he should have.....as by the time we shipped him out,his weaknesses were very apparent.
I wasn't a fan.
Well either way, he very obviously was. Unless you think we were negotiating with ADL all summer just for fun and that basically every bit of reporting was wrong.I'd hope he wasn't.I can't see any reason why he would have been.
