Thanks , i am mourning my perfect lungs , march 1st, i am glad i sung and shouted all day, good way to go out , sigh
My lungs have been crap since whatever I got in December could hardly breath on Friday there was some much fluid on them, not smoked for 4 months now which is not bad going after 40 years, I missed the match because of it and that was months after I got it

Back from my lung function tests , that was hard work, did a ventolin test as well to see if improved my lung function and it did by 28-30% which is indicative for asthma , he couldnt tell me much other than i did quite well, CT scan to come then tbe big verdict
Good luck kid.

If they are keeping restaurants open in Liverpool then the problem just shifts to them. I was in San Carlo a month ago and the staff were still going round to tables singing happy birthday FFS. I couldn’t believe it. 5/6 of em round a table singing. These rules are just made up as they go along. Restaurants carry as much threat as pubs when people have had a drink.

Adults in pubs drinking responsibly, wearing mask a d distancing more safe than a college class of adolecents ignoring the rules and their tutors sitting together unmasked amd no distancing in
Weird how London isn’t doing bad despite the underground being packed and so many living so close together etc.
Higher prevalence of antibodies. See also New York. They won't be protected forever though. Virus will get more contagious as winter gets closer. It will survive on surfaces for longer, survive in aerosols longer and people spend more time indoors than out.

I have very little sympathy for Merseyside but these new restrictions are crippling.

At some point, we have to just accept there's only so much that can be done.

I know this might sound conspiracy-like but part of me believes the upper class thought we all had it too good these days and now they’re trying to take things away from us to compensate. Can’t be having those nice restaurants, pubs, family & friend gatherings. They want us to just live at home and work.

Might ????

This is speculation but assuming third tier is imposed on Manchester, not sure why gyms need to be closed? They have contributed very little to infections.

This is getting ridiculous from the government now. Hope those screaming for lockdown are now happy with the misery imposed on people's livelihoods.

People whining about not being able to go to the gym for a few weeks should try being locked up in the house for 7 mths scared to go out because you are in the vulnerable category and having no end in site to it.
Where as i have every sympathy with that catagory, it must be Terrible and would drive me totally mad... is there any need to impose that on the fit and healthy too?

Is that because they're low risk though, or because they just don't get as many people using them? It's not like a door handle where you touch it for a second, if you're using equipment in the gym, you're in contact with it for an extended period. It just needs proper rules though really. Disinfect the equipment between people. Do all of your exercise on one piece of equipment before moving onto the next, rather than switching between them constantly. And obviously the risk is probably different depending on the equipment. A treadmill probably isn't a huge problem.

I wonder if one of the reasons why poorer countries are often doing a better job is because they can hire people fairly cheaply to ensure that rules are followed. My gym closes every hour for disinfection. I can't imagine a UK gym paying cleaning staff to hang around all day. Most shops can often afford to have a dedicated member of staff at the entrance to enforce the rules. Perhaps that's one area the government could look at. Subsidizing things like extra cleaning staff or security on the doors.

Found an article that is suggesting gyms will remain open which is some relief. Still harsh on hospitality sector who are facing an up hill battle.

The gym I go to has done a superb job with implementing measures. There's plenty of paper towels and sanitizers around and most people are cleaning down equipment. All of the cardio equipment is spaced out. The gym discourages people from using changing rooms as well.

I wonder if measures will extend in to Stockport where the current rate is half of Manchester's and probably better than constituencies in the south where no restrictions will be implemented. No sense in that at all. Assuming they will impose it on Stockport to prevent people in Manchester travelling down the road to pubs in Stockport.

I fully supported lockdown first time around. Infections were spiralling out of control and we needed to get a grip. Given what we saw in hospitals I think it was entirely sensible to lockdown.

The government had a responsibility to use that time to get a vaguely effective test and trace system in place (and we were promised something much better than that) and devise a plan for how the university year would begin in September. They failed us all spectacularly.

Instead they spent that time dishing out public money to people totally unqualified to implement the systems we needed and they prioritised the needs of student landlords in making sure term began, regardless of the consequences. Hundreds of thousands of kids locked into contracts, sent to all ends of the country to mingle in close proximity and then locked up within days and told they've behaved selfishly.

This time around, responsible pub and cafe owners are being scapegoated for the glaring failures in other areas.

It's been obvious for months and has been pointed out many times over that the government's intention right now if for us all to be shifting the blame onto eachother. Their failings and the lack of action are there for all to see. I don't feel bad for originally supporting lockdown (alongside a good support package for businesses affected). So don't blame people like me for this shit show, blame the people who are in charge of it.

Week on week, we are seeing huge decisions being taken by government that will affect millions of people's lives across different regions and they are not being communicated properly (or even at all.) Massive restrictions on lives being speculated about for days, and still being unclear with a matter hours before so called restrictions come into place. Government ministers, including the Prime Minister, incorrectly explaining rules after they've come into force. They are cultivating an environment where people are desensitised to grave nature of new restrictions when they're brought in and they are unable to explain any scientific rationale behind it. No wonder people are confused and angry. They have no idea how they're impacting the lives of everyday people and it's obvious they don't care either.

Totally agree my friend.

I must have said this a thousand times on here but the government have a sinister way of blaming the general public. It was the government who told us to go out and support businesses by eating out to help out. In addition they provided assurance to eat out. Now they are blaming the public for going out and penalizing small businesses. I imagine there are no tory donors in the hospitality sector which is why the govt are happy for this industry to struggle.

Don't get me started on the whopping contracts being handed out to tory ran tin pot businesses. I hope there's an inquiry in to govt contracts to the pandemic which will see a few people locked up.
