Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Yes they did My pal who I'd a inited fan had just done his coupon and was coming out of hills Said he was confronted by a huge impi of Millwall nut jobs he got chased down the road towards Mersey Way
He said hed never ran faster in his life apart from when his missus was after him!

Your phone still playing up mate ? :-)

Mid 80's v West Ham and loads of them going in the Main Stand doing the Oakie Cokie. They then congregated after the game at the far end of Maine Road and then marched / charged up Maine Road chanting Irons Irons Irons..... Kicking City fans all over the place.

The following season they tried it again and after the game the biggest City crew I'd ever seen was outside waiting. Half of Moss Side's young males were there, chased and battered the Hammers. They stood out like a sore thumb mostly wearing yellow Slazenger jumpers.

I remember one midweek game Mad Eye,FA or League Cup replay ?,Cunningham was playing up front for us,i think we got beat.
They brought thousands up,it was mayhem before, during and after the game.

Chelsea on a Friday night towards the end of 83/84 season. It was a live TV game and they were heading for promotion, their nutters were all over the place, it even kicked off in the Main Stand.

The away fans seats were at the side of the Main Stand by then I think. Between Main and Platt Lane.

Coventry in the cup was one that springs to mind. Liverpool in the 80/81 cup semi final. Carnage after the game. Chelsea last game of Kippax? Spurs in the QF platt Lane opening. Millwall in the league. United 89. They are the ones I remember.

To this day i will never forget,it was bizzare
it was against Hull
can't remember the year excactly except it was in our div 1 div 2 years around 1984 to 1988

Me and my mate had just got the bus from aytown street to MR,both of us were around 20 years old
we were walking over the foyer/outside of the Main stand around to the Kippax ,we were both hungover to fk

all of a sudden it was " Hull Hull Hull "
a group of maybe 50 lads started smacking ,hitting any city fan in sight
it was one of the biggest shithouse tricks iv ever witnessed
blokes holding young kids got smacked ,anyone and everyone
except me and my mate
it was all over in 30 seconds max
still cant believe how me and my pal didn't get smacked
it was a bizzare ,surreal moment.

You always new if it was going to be a bit “tasty” hurlys golf shop in town always had the shutters down...
I am assuming that the shutters were down because the away fans were coming down from Piccadilly Station and walking past Hurleys to get a bus to the ground, probably from Aytoun Street.
Makes good sense to shutter up as they had a lot of desirable gear in those days.

In his book Guvnors,Mickey Francis said he was approached by a Scouser outside Maine Road asking for "spares".
However, because of the guys Scouse accent,Mickey thought he was asking for" spears"(MF being Black etc) and promptly flattened the Scouse twat for taking the piss!!!.
Well done MF!!!!

I must off been lucky cos I never saw any blades etc at a match.
Usually plenty of missiles (stones.bricks, bottles and sometimes snooker balls) being thrown though.
I seen it a few times mate especially Goodison a lad I knew got slashed think he had about 30 odd stitches in is face,he didn’t even know till someone said you’ve been cut.

Yes 100% correct mate it was often targeted I Remember Pompey’s 6:57 having a little spree inside. Lesson learned after that.
