Said it before, in my opinion, the section of our society who really need to protect themselves and shield better arent. Wnd its the rest who are paying for it.

i see it on jobs everyday, its the 65+ bracket (Genrally) who dont give me space in their house, who try and shake my hand, who offer me cups of tea, who tell me i dont need to wear a mask, who tell me “its all a load of nonsense”

where as younger clients just say “i’ll get out the way”.

I've found the opposite to be honest mate. The look on the older people's faces when you get closer you can see the fear. Could be my ring tone is the Halloween theme. But seriously both the young and old flout the measures and it doesn't seem to be getting through even after 6 months
I’m with Nellie’s left peg. The only 2 people to cross my threshold since March 1st are the Electricity meter reader who I asked immediately to wear a mask and a plumber who had the cheek to ask me for a cuppa and was not wearing a mask and didn’t have one with him! I kept my distance and told him, from another room, keeping my distance, no I’m sorry but those days are gone! The electricity meter man apologised and put his on straight away.
If I have a parcel delivered I am standing well back almost behind my door when I answer as I totally admit I am terrified.
I also know from my FT and telephone chats with my over 65 yr old friends that they are the same.

Don’t see the pubs opening again this year

once your in these things you don’t get out

even if Covid cases come down, hospital beds will be full of vunerable people in with other respitatory illnsesses.

It’s crazy to me sacrificing businesses while sending Students to Uni and not telling the vulnerable to shield.
I'm sure the kids going back to uni has spread it more. In the middle of a pandemic where is the sense in kids criss crossing the country with their asymptomatic symptoms. Education is important but not so important that it will spread the virus. Could the first year students not have a gap year in these difficult times

Just admit it, you’ve got a bit of money about you and you don’t give a shit about poorer people not being able to make ends meat.

You have absolutely no real comeback to those sham contracts - Track and Trace is being run by Dido Harding ffs.

Not only that but you openly support bigots on this very forum ahead of those fighting for the livelihoods of those who need help the most.

It’s just sad to be honest.
Its more than sad, its down right shameful, @worsleyweb call yourself a blue? Your clearly of the i,m alright jack attitude, and anyone who hasn't got what you've got its their own fault/hasn't worked hard enough - an attitude which could equally could be summed up in one word - wanker

Thats why i said ‘generally’

Deaths continuing to double every ten days or thereabouts.

Given time lags, that's already baked in for the next two doublings.

Nobody believes tier three will make much difference.

So unless people's behaviour is radically changing unnoticed, it seems we're sleepwalking into a slo-mo repeat of March and April, except this time there's no plan to get through it.

Now near a *month* since SAGE recommended a "circuit breaker".

They are though , they wont go in another room
Ive built my business up on trust and good name over 15 years. The VAST majority are returning customers who know me by name and ask about my family and tell me about theres. I have customers who ive never met leaving keys for me as ive been recommended and trust follows

trust me, its not a trust issue. Nice try at a cheap dig though. Although our paths have crossed i still thought you better than that

Folks; it's been mentioned plenty of times in the past. If you want to score cheap political points, there's a Covid thread in the politics sub forum.
Well said. I've just moved a load of posts now, but don't want to spend my whole night doing it. Please try and keep the overtly political stuff to the relevant thread. Cheers.

well that's a blatant lie by someone.. two Holts pubs closed in my town alone. but please do fact check things, it helps in the future
Think they mean the track and trace data cannot link any cases to their pubs.

I've heard a few (anecdotal) stories from friends/family of people finding out via social media that a pub they've been in has had a case of covid - and not hearing anything from track and trace.

Edit: From the article - "Since the start of July our 860 pubs, in Manchester and around the North West of England and North Wales, have had not one case where they have been contacted by Track and Trace as a result of linked virus cases in one of our pubs. Our pubs have had between 8-10 million visits since re-opening in July – we are aware informally of only 15-20 individuals who have been in touch with their pub in the days after visiting to say that they have contracted the virus. This equates to 0.25 people per 100,000 visits of pubgoers who might have or more likely did not contract the virus on a visit to a pub."

Why should those of us who live in areas where we're not being arseholes be made to suffer?
You'd have been fuckin' ace at the outbreak of WWII. "Draw the curtains at night as part of the country's fight against the enemy? Heaven forfend Jeeves, we're being asked to dim the courtyard lights. What's that you say? The major industrial cities are highly populated and more likely to be attacked by the hun? Scrivvens, let them die; I've not got where I am today by doing any of this community malarkey. Make mine a Pimms and remember to bring the (literal and metaphorical) drawbridge up".
