Let's be honest, Porto are a team who will do well to finish in the last 16, no more than that. Slightly awkward to play against with a packed defence but I didn't see anything in them overall to think they were a difficult team to beat. The ref was shocking, he was like a cow on the pitch at times - constantly in the way and blocking passes. What do you expect though from a man who refs games in Latvia? You might as well pick from one the Vanarama league or whatever it's called now. Porto dived, cheating... usual European football stuff. I find it really hard to watch this stuff with awful teams and appalling referees. Say what you like about PL refs, they are worlds apart from the dross they serve up in the CL.

However, none of this should come as a surprise to us in the CL as it's the norm.

I struggle to understand why we pick Garcia. He's made it clear he wants to leave and whilst he didn't have a bad game, we shouldn't be picking him. Simple as that for me.

What got me was he manner in which we conceded the first goal had our weaknesses all over. The guy didn't even face a tackle after a 30-40 yard run around our box. The defending was abysmal. I'm sorry, but these goals mean we will never win the CL. It was comical almost and until Pep, or the coaches, get to grips with these kinds of goals the CL just isn't going to happen. You can't win it if you have soft goals inside you. It might sound daft saying it, but teams such as Porto and Athletico Madrid probably have a better chance than us simply because they are hard to beat.

We also picked up 5 bookings and an injury to Fernandinho.

Overall, another "meh" game. I'll take the win but looking at at the pattern of the last year, we're simply not improving are we?

If Ake had played the bloke would have been challenged, very hard.

Garcia & Cancelo wouldn't get in any PL team as defenders, they are utter wank.

Mistake not getting a LB during the window, not sure why the club didn't address the problem. Hopefully won't cost us to often.
 
Got the job done but the lineup added to our struggles.

The energy and pace when Ferran and Foden came on was much needed.

Walker was fantastic.

Sterling Fought for every ball.

Not at our best but efficient.

The balance in the team is not right and please stop playing Garcia.
 
Good win. Glad to see Sergio get a goal and Gundo’s goal should shut one or two up on here. Great goal from Torres too so not much to complain about.
Pepe is still a ****.
 
Hard fought win. Walker immense again. I was screaming for Gundo to take that free kick..obviously glad he did.very pleased.
 
Performance is secondary at this stage of the competition. Points on the board is all that matters.
more minutes for Aguero and some great cameos from foden and Torres and another great game from Kyle.
More than happy with that result.

Agree on Ake, he's been a great signing.

I can't make my mind up on Cancelo. If he was 18 I'd think he would have a future with us. We bought him from Juventus who were the CL winners at the time for £60m (I know we gave em Danilo) and he doesn't look like a right back to me - certainly not a patch on Walker. And he's not a left back, except in an emergency. Personally, I'd sell him as it's not worked out for the lad.

With Garcia I can't see what we're doing playing a guy who wants to leave. It's not like he's as good as Laporte etc and we have THB on the bench who DOES want to stay and play. Play THB and see if he's good enough. Don't play players who want to leave!
 
Tbh we were poor. Very sloppy in possession and fragile again defensively. We werent helped by possibly the worst referee ever.

Cancelo, Garcia, Rodri and Mahrez we’re all very poor. Nobody else was great apart from Walker who has been our player of the season so far.

Its good to have three points but as I said last season there is no way we win the Champions league with that defence.
