So the government waits until people have cancelled including me for October.
Set of tory twats.

Got to give credit to Travel Republic here. Always managed our expectations in a very clear way and refunded our money a week earlier than that first promised.
They've been brilliant.

Anyone been all inclusive in the last few months or know what the deal is with all inclusive resorts at the minute?

Do you still have the ability to help yourself to food and drinks throughout the day or are places operating a table service now?

found a cracking deal to the all inclusive we been to a few times in Lanzarote so just wondering what everyone’s recent experiences are?
In Greece they had glass screens an people serving you
You went up as us usual

Just out of interest for those booking holidays, what would you have to do if it went back on the quarantine list whilst there? My missus is a Teacher and it’s been made pretty clear that going on holiday and having to quarantine would not be seen favourably. We just can’t risk it. She isn’t keen on me fucking off for a week on my Todd !

If you can’t afford to quarantine don’t go abroad in my opinion. I was in Portugal when it changed but had already discussed with my employer so did two weeks working from home. If the flights are cheap book one home that lands before 4am Sunday.

Yes we have taken that decision not to travel. Just can’t risk it. I could work from home for 2w but she obviously can’t. Means we have to go in Summer only really and would have to leave 2w before she goes back. We did a staycation this year and it rained 3 out of the 4 days and I was sat there thinking why I have paid a grand for this!

There are ways you can mitigate your risk.

Don't go for longer than a week.
Outbound travel on a Friday or Saturday covers you for the Thursday announcements before and during your stay if doing a week.
Book last minute.

Ultimately with so much uncertainty kicking about booking anything comes with a degree of risk, but no risk no reward as the saying goes.

Staycations are never worth it mate, shit weather and usually have to drive hours a day and not relax. I'd keep a keen eye on the figures and pick a relatively lower risk country abroad, so you and the Mrs can get a break from work.

Ah I hadn’t factored in the Thursday announcement. Do they normally give you 2/3 days notice so rules only come in maybe Sunday ? If so could maybe go Friday to Friday booking at short notice.

As it stands, they announce everything at 5pm on a Thursday.
If a country goes onto the quarantine on return list, then that kicks in from 4am Sunday (it used to be 4am Saturday but recently changed)

So if you travel Friday-Friday or Saturday -Saturday, you're gonna know if there are any changes before you go, and if it happens that on the Thursday you're out there said country is quarantine on return, you'll still get back in time before the cut off.

Obviously do note that the Government can and do throw curveballs; the announcement about the various Greek islands back in September was made on a Monday, and way back in July they did Spain on the Friday from memory, but all other announcements have been from 5pm Thursday weekly.

You have my sympathy. Holidays are what I live for (sad I know). Hope you get away soon

Never worth it? This blessed Isle has some fantastic places to visit.

If you want to spend your time lying on a beach doing fuck all whilst eating from a buffet then knock yourself out but you are missing out.

I agree, we've recently had a great week away in the Mendips, in a lovely cottage, the weather was mixed, but we made the most of the good bits, did something every day, went to some lovely places, walked a gorge (not Cheddar), on the beach, on beach cliffs, a couple of NT gardens, and spent a good bit of time in Wells, a lovely City

It's what you make it, there's so many places to try around our country.

If it was my preference I would go somewhere with better weather, but I'm not taking that risk just now having lost 2 holidays already this year, fortunately got most of my money back. Neither me nor wife can risk 2 weeks quarantine due to work (I could probably get away with it, but it would inconvenience others).

I'm looking at going somewhere in mid/late November, but waiting to see where we're up to before booking anything, I have my sights on a luxury hotel in the Cotswolds, but might look for a luxury cottage instead.

Im in lanzarote at the moment and they cant wait for you to come
It's so quiet here and much safer than at home.
And I've just heard I don't have to quarantine on my return
Happy days, tenerife in December and back here in January.
I'm beginning to like this no fans in the ground lark.
I never thought I would grow out of watching City home and away but after 45 years of doing it,I've found that their are other things in life
God bless sky and bt app on your phone

Bet the locals in the Canaries can’t wait to have us low rate Brits back on their relatively safe island !
I was in a bar here in Tenerife having a beer with my new mate @shackattack when the news broke yesterday evening, people who own businesses were cheering and celebrating, they can’t wait to get more tourists back over here. Germany has also apparently ended its quarantine requirements so double bubble for them

We had three weeks in Devon and Cornwall and only had three days with rain, but that was at max for a morning or afternoon, so we got out every day.
Although, admittedly, we went to the beach for a morning, to watch the surfers.

According to this from today anyone going to Germany must produce a negative covid test result certificate on entry or quarantine for 14 days.
