Does anyone know the situation if you are flying into the country? I want to visit family but I beleive that entails 14 days isolation when I am there, if I got a test the day before flying would that have any bearings on the restrictions?

You can see the grounds for some cautious optimism in Scotland where ventilators have quadrupled in the month and still seem to be rising fast. But would be one of the last things to change along with deaths.

Hospital numbers doubled, then rose by under 43% next week and a 39% increase in past week - so there is a downward trend all be it small.

But case numbers started off with a less than 50% rise but have not even doubled across the whole month.

2 deaths in a month? In all of Scotland?

On the MONDAY of those 4 weeks. It is a week to week comparison I do for every DAY with the figures released for that particular day in here.

So yes Monday is going to be low on that measure. As reporting of deaths on a Sunday is not common due to registrar offices being shut. Monday death data in the UK is always artificially low but especially so in Scotland.

Will catch up tomorrow sadly. The three past Tuesdays saw Scotland record a total of 24 deaths. Some of which will have been catch up from the previous weekends.

Well if they don't, less and less people will follow the rules.
Then they will be fined. The Government was duly elected by a huge majority to govern. They have no obligation to give Joe public the details to the far end of a fart as to why they pass laws.

Not supporting Boris or his government, simply saying they don't have to and, if people disregard, they will be punished accordingly.

this is a guess by me, so dont take this as wrote by any means, but my belief was that if you have a chronic health condition or a long-term illness, then that is an underlying condition of dying. So that's all your cancers, respiratory problems etc. But being obese doesn't 100% mean you have a chronic condition such as heart disease or whatever, you might be recently tipped into the obese category for example, but it's fair to say it is more likely that you have heart disease or some sort of diabetes if you are long-term unhealthy/obese. Crossover but not quite the same.
At our place of work even those with a BMI over a certain figure were classed as vulnerable and sent home. Underlying health condition or not.

Hancock does not have a 'central expectation' of a vaccine before January but they are preparing to do so if safe as it is still possible.

Astra Zeneca says their vaccine produces an immune response in all age ranges and has less adverse effects on older people than younger. Whatever that means!

So it genuinely looks promising that 2021 will be a much better year.

I worked with a guy in the Navy who pumped iron. He didn't have an ounce of fat on him but because he weighed 17 stone, he was labelled obese
It's certainly an odd one that index, but I guess that in most cases it does recognise true "obesity" as such.

Wales health minister says last week was one of the 'deadliest' there since the start of the pandemic. With over 60 people dying in the 7 days.

There are 616 in hospital - the most since 24 May. A 26% increase in past week,

And 56 people in ventilator beds.

Also announced 6 deaths from Wales today.

Hopefully - though nobody really knows how well a vaccine will work in the real world until it happens. No vaccine is ever 100% protective.

Given some countries have been giving theirs to soldiers and the like for some weeks reportedly then there may be some data coming from there soon. How reliable it will be is another matter. Though you would assume no news is bad news in this respect as they are not likely to tell the world we gave it people before proper checks and they got sick and died. But would shout from the rooftops if it is actually working after bypassing protocols.

So your work weighed everybody worked out their BMI and sent them home!?
No idea. Just know some were asked if they met any of the criteria and some just indicated the BMI one. It was pretty public as the managers went to each person's desk and asked, they were in a panic to be seen to be getting those vulnerable out of the office quick.
I was sent home because of a pneumothorax a while back but went back after 2 weeks, once they knew I didn't have to have to get an annual flu jab.
To be honest I'd go mad working from home like they all do now.

Well yes, but if any government can't provide information as to why they are doing something they rapidly lose confidence from the electorate.

The rolling total of cases over 7 days in Northern Ireland up to Sunday is 6898 - which is down from 7090 to the previous Sunday.

The age split is:

0 - 19 = 913, 20 - 39 = 2612, 40 - 59 = 2154, 60 - 79 = 965, over 80 = 254.

So at 1219 cases aged over 60 - around 18% - it is no wonder they had 8 deaths yesterday - which pro rata to the England population would be around 250.
