Right can somebody just correct me here before I go and kick off royally?
Three people living in a house, 1 gets tested positive last Thursday, the other two recieve positive test results on Sunday.......last Wednesday a person visits them unaware (as they all are at this stage). The person who visited becomes aware that a positive test has been received on Saturday.
1.Should the visitor be self isolating now.....from the time they became aware of the positive test?
2. Should that persons partner who didnt visit also be self isolating.
If it were found that both were still going to work one in a very public indoor enviroment would you takle them about it?
Interesting that the advice we (schools) are given differs from the advice given by NHS. As directed by the LA who are in turn being directed by PHE, school advice regarding contact / isolation is:
What is a ‘Contact’?
4.1 The main categories that would lead to someone being identified as a ‘contact’
in an education setting are as follows:
4.1.1 Direct contact:
Face to face contact with a confirmed case for any length of time, within
1m, including:
● being coughed on,
● a face to face conversation,
● unprotected physical contact (skin to skin) or
● travel in a small vehicle with a case.
● This also includes any exposure within 1 metre for 1 minute or longer
4.1.2 Proximity contact: Extended close contact (between 1 and 2 metres) for
more than 15 minutes, with a confirmed case.
4.2 An individual identified as a contact is required to self-isolate for 14 days
from the last contact that they had with the index case. If they develop
symptoms during this time they must arrange an urgent test for
themselves.
4.3 Contact must have taken place during the ‘infectious period’ of the index
case which is defined as: 2 full days before the onset of symptoms (or the
date of test if they don’t have symptoms) until 10 days after symptoms
started (or the date of the test if they do not have symptoms).
