Must be absolutely pulling his hair out. Always works hard and has an abundance of quality too, must have watched that game yesterday itching to get on and make a difference only to be almost teased with coming on and then told to sit back down. Won't be long until he starts getting impatient about his lack of opportunities given we all know now he is good enough.

He doesn't look after the ball. In the last few weeks he's been giving it away for fun, almost cost us a goal and KDB's been heard giving him a rollocking for not keeping possession at least twice in the last month or so.

Until he does, he doesn't get trusted in midfield in a big game and he can't replace Silva.

It's that simple.

And yet we continue to watch Sterling and KDB struggling like fuck.No excuse for not introducing him today,it was just poor management.

Any other team and he is one of the first names on the sheet. He can change a game, and i suspect he would have done yesterday.
Why the fuck is he banging on about the FA and other clubs not wanting 5 subs, if he carries on like this he’s going to seriously fuck Kevs career up. To cap it all he then cites an injury to a scouse twat as being clear evidence of over playing. Reckon he fucked Kun up by rushing him back

The same criticism can be levelled at Sterling, yet, despite not having the pressing ability or industry levels of Foden,he keeps getting picked.

Yeah well Sterling isn't playing in midfield either, if you hadn't noticed, and his pressing ability and industry is absolutely fine.

He's out of form in front of goal, but he's also the teams top scorer over the past 2 years so he gets to stay in the team when we need goals.

He's playing in a position that could be taken up by someone else who doesn't constantly give the ball away, runs down blind alleys, and ends up on the floor. His industry is often fruitless and toothless.Even the goals have now dried up.

Yes, we all know you hate Sterling and feel the need to mention it 100x a day, but Pep and the rest of us aren't preoccupied with pushing an agenda so we're not going to drop the teams top scorer who's bailed us out of many games.

Nope, you just don't like anyone who disagrees with you because you see your opinion as more important than someone elses.

I don't hate any of our players, certainly no agenda, thats crazy talk.......but i will criticise and praise accordingly, irrespective of the nonsense i will receive off obnoxious characters like you who think they can shout others down or belittle their response.

Anyone who is accusing Sterling of a lack of "industry" is pushing an agenda, because everyone else knows its a complete load of shit.

His form may go up and down, he might not be effective but he never lacks industry or effort.

Other than the woeful performance against Olympiakos we look a much, much more threatening with him on the pitch.

I get the idea of starting Torres and Sterling on the wings; one has been in great form recently and the other is a proven goalscorer, although out of form. But those two and de Bruyne were all ineffective yesterday. He should have come on at some point and that, to me, is undeniable. Foden absolutely tore Robertson to shreds last time around.

Part of his development is to have poor games and to learn from them. That's what experience is and that is exactly what he's being robbed of. People talk about being David Silva's replacement like David spent his career as a tempo setting central midfielder but he spent the majority of his career in Valencia and here playing on either wing, just behind the striker and as a number ten. David, like Fernandinho, grew into his role relatively late in his career because the experience he had built up manifested itself as composure on the pitch.

Right now, Phil doesn't have that same level composure and he never will as long as he's under utilised by the current manager. How can he?

Some people will attribute any of his success to Pep whilst putting his failures down to himself. I'd argue that his success is in spite of Pep and his failures are shared between the two of them. The midweek game was all on Foden but yesterday was all down to Guardiola. He stopped inspiring confidence in his players a long time ago.

On sterling, even though this is Foden's thread...

352 or 433

Get him on the RW, and let him use his pace and positioning to get goals and assists.

He shouldn't be involved in build-up, his link up play is terrible, and he can't create that well cutting in.

He is great in the final third to position for tap ins or crossing the ball, and that's where we should use him the most.

Let Cancelo do the damage on the left, he is the much better dribbler, and is decent with his weak foot as well.

When all is said and done it's worth noting he's still an extremely young player playing at an extremely high level. He's bound to be inconsistent. No player his age isn't, or hasn't been. On top of that, Foden generally plays in a position at a level of football that players of his age don't tend to appear in. We see lots of exciting 20 year old fullbacks, wingers, and forwards, but how many top clubs have a 20 year old in midfield?

It's not so say we should be ok with him being erratic, especially given Foden is a bit more erratic than most in our team. But I do think he deserves to be treated with a bit more leniency than others in this regard.

He's had enough good games against good opposition for me to see that he's got it in him. And he's improved well enough on aspects of his game that were previously considered issues for me to feel like he's going to improve on his current ones.

Out of form in front of goal?? Unless he is under the cross bar the guy can't hit a cows arse with a banjo.

OK maybe he played poorly in the midweek game but we needed someone who was direct and willing to run with the ball, after about 70 mins Liverpool were goosed, we didn't need Gundogan and Rodri still there, Bernardo should of come on for one of them and put him in midfield whilst Foden replaced Torres.

People keep talking about the game we won 4-0 in which Robertson couldn't get near him

He had a poor game and was benched. Part of life being a pro

I'm talking productive industry,he covers the miles but much of that is toothless. At this stage of his career he needs to take a game by the scruff of its neck and make things happen,he needs to take some pressure off the midfield and defence by holding the ball up or finding the right pass.....he just needs to be more influential on games.
Unfortunately,he's quite often all fur coat and no knickers.

It appears more one rule for one to me. Having one poor game doesn’t lead to being dropped for other players. He needs a run of games to build up form I get that he is young but the players ahead of him currently aren’t ripping up trees. This year was meant to be his breakout season and he needs a chance to do it.

He's had more chances this season. He is now established as part of the squad and not everyone can play every game.

As I say, part and parcel of being a pro and I'm sure he fully understands that
