it was all about immigration don’t you know.
It was for the vast majority who never usually come out to vote. If it wasnt for you and Mazzarelli then I am happy and proud for you both. However, UKIP and Frogface framed it around immigration and that topic did mobilise sufficient non regular voters to come out and cast a vote. So yes, you can say that largely it was.

Never understood why we have to have freedom of movement, yes have the ability to work in any country as long as there is a job for you, I’d like nothing more than to fuck off to Canada but guess what I need a job offer first

We have to have it as it's an important part of the slow transition into a country called the EU.

Because it allows you to move, work and settle freely, specifically free of Govt diktat. It empowers people, liberates them from Govt control.

Freedom of movement for the ordinary citizens of Europe is one of the greatest liberalising moments in European history.

EU webpage?

And more public spending needed. And more homes and more roads and more....... etc

I don't want increased population full stop so it's not a point that will make me waver I'm afraid. Economics is down my list of priorities.
Population is an economic issue. You've recognised that in your first sentence. All those activities are part of GDP. So is running asylum centres. Not letting asylum seekers work doesn't help GDP.

(Don't miss the point - immigration is obviously an economic issue.)

I completely agree with you.

I’m really not particularly bothered about the numbers coming and I think the media have blown it out of proportion, as per usual.

I just challenged someone using the narrative of saying we shouldn’t be stopping people entering illegally.
It's the language barrier. They are not entering illegally, unless by deception and maybe not even then.

Your best chance of a socialist govt is the collapse of the current one. I want both the EU and the UK electoral system rid of. The only thing I can do is vote on that basis which I do.

One person one vote. I would vote green and leave again tomorrow. I have no problem with my decision.

I'm a fan of voting in what you believe in.
I don't understand. You don't like our electoral system but you do like one person one vote. Isn't that what we have (and the EU)?

Entering via a dinghy is deception.

What would you have the government do? Free pass to all?
Where's the deception in arriving in a dinghy? "I'm here in a dinghy seeking asylum."

The "free pass to all" is another non sequitur.

If someone asked you how our electoral system works you would just say one person one vote? Really?

Haha

Are you genuinely asking that question? You think if they arrive they turn up at an asylum centre and they’re hoping to be caught?

I can’t even be arsed talking much more about this as it’s not an issue to me, the only reason I’m still going on is because of the ridiculousness of the arguments against the government enforcing the border.

General consensus on LPF is that UK agrees there will be a cost for Single Market access if we diverge too far from EU norms on labour, environment etc. The objection now is the extent of the cost.
....

So like the woman who would not sleep with a man for ten pounds, but would for a thousand, we've established the principle and are just haggling about the price?

No. For another example, look no further than our own Union where four countries have free movement across borders. Alas, we may end up destroying that too. We are already putting up internal barriers to NI.

So you think free movement is a big advantage to the UK and the other countries in the EU?

It is ironic how many Brits feel the same despite living under freedom of movement for citizens of the UK for hundreds of years. There is no border controls when you go to Rhyl, a Scotsman can quite easily work in Scunthorpe, you dont need a passport to get to Perth or a Visa to get to llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrngogogoch.

As most seem to be heading for Dover rather than some obscure beach in Dorset, I think they are hoping to be caught. Of course the well-organised ones may be landing in Dorset.
