IF YOU DO NOT USUALLY READ MY DATA POSTS BUT ARE ANGRY ABOUT GM IN TIER 3 READ THIS ONE.

The Greater Manchester scoreboard today will have the why are we in Tier 3 posters here going nuts.

Total cases down 169 on yesterday to just 510 with every single borough under 100. And 7 of the ten so close together only 11 cases separate them.

Pro rata GM also outperformed the rest of the NW and the % of cases in the NW fell again - and indeed has been falling almost daily for two or three weeks. And now is at the lowest I have ever seen it during the pandemic as a proportion of the NW cases.

You do not need a calculator to figure out that 510 as a % of 1530 is exactly a third - 33%. A month ago it was over 50% and here are the last two weeks in order: 46 - 46 - 44 - 45 - 46 - 44 - 42 - 42 - 41 - 39 - 37 - 36 - 35 - 33%

Oh and today Manchester had 99 cases and Liverpool 93, Closest they have been in weeks. Moreover because Manchester has a higher population than Liverpool that means Manchester outperformed Liverpool today city to city (as Liverpool has gone up a bit and Manchester down in past two weeks). Manchester's Pop Score rose by 18 today and Liverpool by 19 to prove the point.

Regional scoreboard:

London 7378 - way up from 5762 to its highest ever number. Nearly double last week and triple 2 weeks ago. Four weeks ago it was 1800.

East 4157 - up from 3879 to its highest ever.

South East 5015 - up from 4384 and again highest ever.

Total for the three also a record of 16, 550 - out of the 28, 507 cases in the UK in these 3 home counties.

Compared with under 5000 for NE, NW, Yorkshire and Midlands in total.

The speed with which this pandemic has moved 200 miles south is frightening.

Doesnt surprised me that the SE is heading for tier 4, but never mind we can all mingle at Christmas

I fully echo your wishes to Mrs Hairdoo and son for a swift and speedy recovery. But it is simple not true that the PCR test is completely unreliable . If two people from the same family particularly one with positive symptoms of covid are both testing positive the chances of them having covid are very very high indeed.
We will just have to agree to disagree. There is increasing evidence that the “PCR test” was never fit for purpose.

The unacceptably high level of false positive results has not even been acknowledged by our Government ( although it has in a number of European countries).

Wife and son's results have come back positive today. We are devastated, going into Christmas week and all the teachers and classmates who also now have to isolate for the next ten days.

Myself and our little girl have tested negative, which seems weird, living all the same house and I've still been sleeping in same bed since awaiting tests results for us all.

I'm damned if I'm going to socially-distance from my wife and kids during self-isolation. Part of me wants to get it, just so I don't get it in a few weeks time and we all have to perform this dance again.

Fucking Sod's Law my teacher wife goes all year avoiding it and she gets a positive on the final day of term.

My son had no symptoms apart from fatigue and an hour of a high temp. The wife just thought she had a head cold.

Fuck off 2020, you've had your fun.

Good luck to yours TH, I'm looking forward to spending a lot more time on the "It's quiet, Covid has fucked off" thread in the summer than I do on here.

It’s about 80-20% in favour of people wearing them near me so not that bad at all, I really don’t know why people fail to do it, other than medical reasons which must be a small fraction.
About 90/10 percent in Reddish I reckon although certain dickheads think if they are popping in a shop for a paper or some fags they don’t need one! Bizarre thinking! There is an arsehole on my street who I found out refuses to wear one and goes on these anti mask rallies.

No surprise there. Clearly some mate of Boris needs to go somewhere in Bristol, North Somerset or possibly a miniscule part of Surrey for Christmas and didn't want to embarrass him by breaking guidelines. So Tier 2 for them.

I’m in Heaton chapel. I reckon the vast majority in the supermarkets are complying.

As said earlier there cannot be that many folk exempt from wearing face coverings. I am a bus driver and at 1st we were told to not let anyone on without a covering unless they had exemption certificate. Now we have been told to just let them all on. Surely there should be an official certificate issued by health officials (although they are probably too busy in reality).

There is no such evidence, beyond the fringe theories of the Internet. You don't even need any knowledge of PCR to show this:

For uk in July the *total* positive rate fell below 0.5%, which is then the absolute maximum false positive rate.

In reality it's far lower. In NZ the total positive rate is less than 0.1%

My wife has been really ill for a few weeks with it
And I’ve slept in same bed and touch wood I’m fine and so are the kids
Just do what’s best for your family and hopefully your all ok
put 2020 in the bin and look forward to a great 2021
Thoughts with you

I am finding harder and harder not to say anything. There cant be so many people who are excused from wearing them. Honestly from what I have seen it's getting on for 60% that dont wear them and there is talk of kent going to tier 4.
I am sick to the back teeth of so many people ignoring the guidelines whilst the infection rate is going through the roof.
I even do my weekly shop at 9pm on Mondays to avoid people.
Why are so many millions of people in this country so selfish, I can feel me going to have a real rant at someone soon. I am so fed up with it now.

Rant over ;)
Try doing what I do and mouth insults at them under your mask, just be careful not to whisper the words unless you want a scene of course.

Funnily enough, I’ve noticed the same in smaller shops.

The local independent sandwich shop I use, has had to put a bigger sign up because loads of idiots don’t think it applies to them in there.

It seems to be builders coming into the area from elsewhere to work on sites.

I’ve worked on building sites myself and my family all do so nothing against builders.

For Andyhinch

Cheshire East - sadly cases here still high - imo almost certainly exported here because of tier 3 to tier 2 migration to get around the restrictions.

Cases 109 - up from 96. And more than every single borough in Greater Manchester today - Manchester itself included.

Total cases 10, 219.

Pop score up 29 - more than every borough in GM here too - to 2660.

Pop score rises again from 143 up 11 to 154. That is a rise of almost 50% in the past 10 days or so.

Sorry to bring such bad news but it is frankly ludicrous that Stockport is in Tier 3 and Cheshire East Tier 2 because the numbers do not justify it and indeed I think it is all but obvious that it is why Cheshire East is paying the price,

If they were both in the same tier or everyone was and this nonsensical division junked as it should be there would have been far less incentive for this to happen.

Hancock gets this as he justified NOT taking Trafford, Tameside and Stockport out of Tier 3 because he said they would just attract cases by having less restrictions.

If they finally see this (obvious since Wigan in July/August) then surely he sees it cuts both ways.

Your mam and nanas must be tanks.
