48 hours disruption to the just in time supply chain is an absolute disaster, and during one of the most crucial weeks of the year as well.

As a country we stand on the precipice this evening.

Well, we've probably been stockpiling ahead of no deal so I doubt any essentials would run out.

Exports though could be another story.

It's almost like defying all sense and deciding to needlessly push Brexit through in the middle of a fucking pandemic was a cretinously fucking stupid idea born of arrogance.

You were on this thread weeks ago - when infections were high in the north and low in the south - implying that it was because us in the north were not following the rules while those in the south were. Several posters pulled you up on it. That was prior to your other post some time later suggesting that anyone visiting their family at Christmas deserves to die from the virus.

If infections are high somewhere then it's because (mainly) that people aren't following regulations. I couldn't give a shit where they're from. If they're not following the regulations then they're twats.

I didn't say that anyone deserved to die from the virus. I said if anyone did die I'd rather it was one of the selfish arseholes who insisted on gathering together than someone who was being less of a selfish arsehole and being careful.

Understandable mate, but stay strong like we all have to,
The brains out there will beat this virus.
It's not like we need 40 points to stay up anymore,
Stay positive mate,

Thanks for your kind message - have to dig deep for a while more I guess and then hopefully see family when it's possible to do so. I will be with my mrs so not alone at least but this will be the first time in my life I never got to see my family at Christmas. I'm aware this could be worse.

The 48 hour delay is purely virus related to stop the variation entering France.

Looking at that official paper on this new strain it estimates that 0.4% of those that get it may die. Are they saying it’s a lot more contagious and a lot less deadly or have they officially revised the death rate overall to 0.4% now?

Don't think so, about 0.4% that have been identified have died so far, but it has only recently been identified and it takes time to die, more of them may well die in the future. Equally the least severe cases are less likely to have been identified.
IE over all you just can't tell yet and they are not trying to predict. It may be less virulent but more infectious equally it may be just as virulent and more infectious . Hopefully it isn't more virulent and more infectious but we can't be sure yet.

Also from the above link

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has warned the country is facing an "enormous challenge", adding that the mutation was "out of control" and could see areas stuck in Tier 4 until the UK's most vulnerable have been vaccinated.

Wonder what would have happened if we did what the experts said to do and have the proper lockdown in sept , perhaps the new strain wouldnt have taken hold

Very worrying statements, they're going to be playing God with their lockdown and their tier systems for a long time.
