Hello mate.No evidence the South African variant evades the vaccine either.
Good news but we need to get on with beating this thing before a variant in the future can do so.
Its already happened.how long before a big sky news yellow headline of the new south africa variant discovered in the UK ?
There is a trial by Oxford vaccine group in South Africa. You'd think they would know.No evidence the South African variant evades the vaccine either.

It was done weeks ago (most of November), but it didn't really work.it should have been done weeks ago
Don't call me ShirleyWhatever he says lets not overeact , we now have the carrot of the vaccine it is rightt here in front of us , shirley we can all hunker down and get on with it for hopefully one of if not the last lockdown,it has to be done , it should have been done weeks ago
Care homes, work and in-house transmission from the school and shopping superspread events before Christmas mainly.Genuine question, where are people catching the virus from and what are the ages?
only 800 were added to the 29th today, interesting, which suggests it's maxing out at that (for that date).

Proper lockdown i mean, sage wanted it in sept , the tier system was not a bad idea in theory but there is far too many loop holes , we needed to be to!d like we were in march , as it is we are behind again and there has been hundreds if not thousands of needless deaths and people stuck with long covidIt was done weeks ago (most of November), but it didn't really work.
Sometimes speed of decision making is paramount. I am pleased that our FM does not shy away from making tough calls.I don’t disagree with lockdowns, what I disagree with is the introduction of rushed laws to curtail freedoms without proper discussion or thought. We may as well be a police state.
Just read this from CNBC, someone shared it on Twitter, although it seems it was written this moaning too.Hello mate.
That indeed would be good news.
How recent is your info because there was a virus expert on the BBC this morning expressing some concern about the resistance of the SA strain to a vaccine. Not mega doom and gloom, just that more info and tests were needed.
Vaccine effectiveness
Questions have been raised over how the coronavirus vaccines will work against the new variants.
A number of experts have said they expect vaccines — such as those from Pfizer and BioNTech, and the Oxford University/AstraZeneca — to protect against the new strains.
The South African trial was June - November. It would show up as lower efficacy. I don't think any more data has been approved for release by the data monitoring board since the emergence of the variant, so they won't know.
Genuine qustion, where are people catching the virus from and what are the ages?
alcohol free beers ok?
Without wanting to get into an argument here, have you seen the amount of air traffic there is in the UK (and Europe) just now, it's virtually nil, and who knows how many people are on these planes ?
Under current tier 4, the rules say "People should not leave tier four areas or travel abroad, except for limited reasons (including work and education)", so work travel is allowed, and I've said it before in this (or the old) thread that there are thousand who work in the oil, gas, and chemical industries who do have to travel for work.
