Stepped on scales today and not exactly shocked to learn I lost 29 pounds in four weeks.

Gonna take a while to get that back.

I've lost something more, not sure what.

Probably a sense of my own mortality for the first time in my 46 years.

Good to see you posting fella

All the best with the recovery

BBC News just now. Merseyside worked out what we did weeks ago.

Being in higher restrictions helped GM and hurt Merseyside as they spent December free to do more things like attend football matches.

And boy did they. Seems they are struggling to keep hospital numbers down and may need extra hekp as they approach crisis from other parts of the NW such as GM.

Cannot believe how long it took them to cotton on to the obvious.

And Boris still saying we will exit lockdown into tiers.

If he really means that he deserves to be sacked.

Tiers literally created tears on Merseyside.

Super fast response to request for % 80+ thank you!

Very interested to see where that goes; I think there's about 4 million 80+, and we've already vaccinated a million or so, so that number *should* trend down almost immediately.

Actually, that's probably not quite right; about 2 weeks to take effect and another 3-4 weeks to hit deaths from point of infection. So maybe expect to start downward glide in a couple of weeks time? Here's hoping.

I will be astounded if they meet the 13.9m individual vaccinations by mid Feb.

Me too, as it requires 2 million/week starting this week. I'm not that bothered if they don't hit it, but in how far they miss by (yes, this assumes they miss).

It will be interesting to see what they get to, and when they start excusing missing it.

I don't know why they didn't say by middle of March, would still be an outstanding achievement, why do they put so much pressure on themselves with these targets

Cos I would presume that's when they would like to justify coming out of lockdown.

A rather depressing thread from Christina Pagel of Independent SAGE, someone whose views I've shared before.

Bearing in mind that she's been consistently right in the run up to this lock down, well worth paying attention to.

Bottom line: even the lockdown might not be enough to keep our hospitals open.

Stay home blues.

Really felt for you. Same age. Similair experience. Yours was worse. Mine kept coming back. Be very gentle on yourself for a bit. Walk, don't run. And stay warm.

I may be wrong but think he has been stalling as they didn't have the volume of doses avail

On Monday he definitely stated that they had 3 million AZ in bottles, and half a million AZ ready to go. It will be very interesting to hear how many have been sorted so far.

The numbers quoted are definitely going to be tracked.

Changing the topic from the last thing on people's minds, which was schools. It's really stressy and tiring having to go through the same cycle again and again, knowing full well it will happen again and again. He can't help it. Or at least, he won't. He's locked in a spiral. Political survival is all that matters to him, one crisis at a time. Constantly borrowing political capital from the future to gloss over today.

It is possible that he blurted out an over-promise as he is wont to do.

I think it had been often quoted as 25 million by the end of March, and that's still 2 million/week just with more time to make up for a slow start.

A GP on the BBC was saying on a busy day, they could do 500 vaccinations. 1000 sites in the country, if they could get them supplied could be 500k a day.

The big centres seem odd - the Excel in Docklands isn't that easy to get to unless you want to clog east London with cars.

I didn't realise you was that ill tolm, that's scary the weight loss.

Hope you're well on the road to recovery pal.

All the best.

Because there has never been a roll out lke this. It started on Monday straight after new year. Teething trouble after a couple of days aren't a sign that nothing was planned, problems a week or so down the line would be. We aren't there yet but the fact we are ahead of most shows there has been some planning.
I am sorry but i don't believe there has been enough planning for the reasons listed below.

Why are we now getting the Army in 4 days after rolling out the new vaccine. If they were needed why weren't they working on this from day 1? Or are you saying it was always the plan to start using them on Day 4 of the AZ vaccine rollout? Sounds like what plans they had weren't sufficient to me?

Not vaccinating people on Sundays as has been reported? Why on earth not?

Not having enough glass vaccination vials as is being reported?

Not utilising everyone who is already trained and has capacity to vaccinate such as dentists and only using a few pharmacies also indicates this?

Requiring people to have umpteen needless pieces of paper to administer injections indicates to me that paperwork is being put before lives.

I except we are doing ok and better than most when compared to other countries but that should not stop us striving to improve, is it wrong for me the expect better?
