They lessen the force of a sneeze or cough , might be less viral load that makes a difference in how sick the person they are facing
So they cough and it all goes vertically and out.
I’m very reassured.

THIS might be very good news. But for now is just tentative and needs bearing out in coming days.

England 489 hospital deaths by age:

20 - 39 (4) 0.8%

40 - 59 (31) 6.4%

60 - 79 (205) (42%}

80 + (249) (50.9%)

This is the closest I recall the top two age brackets being together in numbers

Is this the first hint that the deaths in over 80s are falling now many have been vaccinated?

I had a look at the data here

Plot of %80+ by date of death (yours is date reported I think?) since start of Dec.

I think it's fair to say no drop yet clearly discernible though if I squint really hard I might claim there's a falling trend over the past two weeks. Last couple of points will get a lot more added yet so not reliable.

I'll leave it a week before having another look.

Absolutely mind boggling that wearing a mask inside a store is only now being enforced.
It's been enforced over here since April at least.

In my local Aldi none of the staff wear them but the checkout heads have this proper pointless perspex screen in front of them but not round the sides of them.

Cant get my nut round that.

The problem is, always was, and will remain the numbskulls who don't get the message, don't care about the message or don't believe the message. Get tough or get lost, Boris.
I saw a post on SM at the weekend from someone who decided that they could drive 30 miles to a beauty spot for a walk as it was important to the whole family for their mental health. Not only did they do it, they then posted about it complete with pictures, 40 people commented saying well done you and 90 liked it! Unfortunately this will be being replicated all over the country.

As I suggested last night phone the doctor and ask, I told my mum to do this yesterday, and she now has an appointment on Thursday. She was told they were now informing people of appointments by mobile phone (yes old people by mobile phone - shakes head), and while she has one, they didn't have her mobile phone number, many older people still rely on landlines out of habit.
My Dad got a text message to organise his vaccination. My Mum by coincidence went to the surgery this morning for a blood test but it came up in conversation that she'll get it in the next tranche. She's happy enough to wait because we can see movement. They are useless with mobile phones too....cutting the caller off, muting by accident. You can't teach old dogs new tricks.

My health authority has been fantastic right through, i have spent more time at / in hospital since march than in three years , run like clockwork , my surgery has been vaccinating for about three weeks now
Definitely not all trusts. The Pennine Acute trust seem to be doing a brilliant job but locally, a lot of the others don't seem to be getting their act together.

Historical underfunding seems to be the main cause but a lot of trusts seem to be sleepwalking through this whole thing!

Not sure if this has been covered before, Ignore that this was Fox News streamed.

Ivermectin, really looking like it has solid benefits. Dr Campbell did a video on it a few days ago too and he said these guys are really credible.

in Argentina, 800 medical staff given it, Zero got Covid. of the 400 who didn't take it. 58% got Covid. they have looked at data from 30 or so studies, all positive. this group is begging the medical community to study the data and set up proper trials etc etc.

Ivermectin is an anti parasite medication normally.

The daily data from PHE is not from yesterday - correct. Its from many past days added together.

But I did post yesterday (and have in past posted) a list of the number of England hospital deaths redistributed to the actual day for the same reason - looking for trends versus the date of death.

I made some comments on that post yesterday about the trends day to day which have been looking anything but good recently.

The ones who make me laugh are the ones who say they are medically exempt when challenged about not wearing a mask but are out shopping with their partners, hows about you stay in the fcuking car or at home and let your mask wearing partner do the shopping.

Mine are both pretty savvy with tech, but a lot of older people don't give their mobile number out, to save on scam calls. My employer for instance don't have mine, and I have always been told that if they need me to have a mobile phone number, they can pay the bill for it, if I'm paying the bill I'll decide who I give the number to.

Anyway hope your mum gets sorted quickly, I'm glad I insisted with my mum yesterday, and that she did it.
