If people can get to the supermarket without having to shield then they should do, it shouldn't be just for convenience or because they can. Slots should be prioritised for those who genuinely need it.
Tricky this, as going into poorly ventilated supermarkets, even with masks on and distancing, is now being depicted as a hazardous activity with new the new more transmissible strain and higher levels of asymptomatic community infection.

My wife has got paranoid about me going in supermarkets since Christmas, so I keep trips to less busy times and quick shops, but she's got deliveries from Iceland (in Sheffield) arranged really easily.

Yep, it’s fucking frightening!

I never realised this before Covid but it appears that a worrying amount of people can’t think or act for themselves. They can’t take responsibility for anything, they have to be told what to do and have their hand held all the way. I don’t know how some people make it from one day to the next!

A few times over the last year I’ve put myself into more strict restrictions if I’ve felt the govt’s rules at that particular time weren’t strong enough. I thought that would be a common sense thing to do that many people would also enact for themselves.
Thats not too much of a problem. The problem is the Covidiot antimaskers who think it's only Flu and frankly couldn't give a shit about anyone else.

that’s good news
Yeah.
He is 47, never smoked but has always liked a beer. He had childhood asthma (inherited from his mum, my aunt) but, apart from that, always healthy.
We suspected he had had it and it took him months to feel 100 percent again, but he does now.
I'm just glad he has escaped the worst of it but the antibodies result is excellent news indeed.

Greater Manchester more details:

Total 1571 - down from 1860. Last Monday was 1742 - first week to week fall in a while.

But 29% v 25% of NW total.

Only Manchester over 200 and only one under 100.

Reason for the modest changes in GM despite big NW falls being bigger falls on Merseyside.

Liverpool down from 907 to 609 - a drop of more than all GM on its own. Lowest for 8 days. But still almost double Manchester today and a Pop rise of 123 versus one of 61 for Manchester.

Wirral also well down from 562 to 305 and fewer cases than Manchester for first time in a few days. Pop rise here of 94 - so about 50% or more than all in Manchester but well down for Wirral lately.

Warrington also fell big from 311 to 178 and a Pop rise of just 84. Lowest in 11 days.

In contrast back in GM Wigan had a huge drop and so the best day.

Tameside topped the tree again and was the only place under 100. Whereas Oldham rose slightly back over 100 and Bury and Bolton had more meaningful rises though all kept below 200. Rochdale, Salford, Stockport and Trafford all had similar if moderate falls in the 30s or 40s from yesterday.

Manchester was also down by 54 but stays in the mid 300s.

thanks for your posts healdplace. I always look out for them. Especially when you mention Tameside being one if the lowest it makes me feel less anxious about things round here

Tameside seem to be doing really well. Speeding along on the vaccination front too.

Who could possibly believe that the average national R number last week was 1-1.4.
I'm gobsmacked, I really am.

It is good news, but he should still get vaccinated despite the antibodies.
