I’m not sure if the government contract suppliers directly here, the LEA does.

So let me get this right:

The government agrees to pay £30 to the LEA for each kid for each weekly food parcel.

The LEA contracts this out to an outside company where the school cannot provide these meals.

Said outside company sends out a piss take foodparcel (in this case I understand Compass group)

This is brought to the attention of the government who said they are investigating as this falls way short of expectations

Yet somehow this is the government fault? What would you have Boris do exactly? Nip down to Spar get a few goodies in and pack them up himself? Maybe he can pop round and spoon feed the baby.

The buck starts and stops with Compass and the LEA in question should say they will not be allowed to provide any further services for 12 months. It pisses me off that folk are too quick to jump down the throat of government when this actually isn’t their doing. They are paying £30 a kid a week. What else would you have them do that they aren’t exactly?

She lost her husband of 70 years at Christmas. Quoting those figures of 'success' is not valid in her circumstance and no consolation when the PMs father is on TV bragging about getting 2 jabs and being out of jail as a result.
Dealing with a death and funeral under such circumstances is heart breaking. She was not allowed to see him, and they didn't say their goodbyes. Being denied her family and friends. This is real. I really hope your nan stays safe (and Stanley Johnson) but FFS, something is either corrupt or wrong with the vaccine roll out.

Nice stats. If the two million figure you were quoting earlier is correct, even if the UK the only country vaccinating at the moment 0.2% of the EU population would be vaccinated already. One of the many reasons why I dislike "99.9%" so much, is that is never an actual fact based stat its only ever exaggeration. Just say most or (vast) majority or use accurate numbers.

It’s very sad, I attended a funeral last year with only 10 allowed in, in the height of the first lockdown, we could meet afterwards and had to go straight home. It’s an awful experience and I appreciate she’s been through a lot.

But what you’re getting wrong is using one specific example in a vaccine rollout programme that is doing millions of people.

Stanley Johnson isn’t my man, he’s one individual, like many many individuals, who’s in the bracket of people being done now and has been done.

It’s not corrupt, it’s not incompetent, they’re doing the best they can with the vaccine.

Their incompetence and corruption lies elsewhere, not in an 80 year old getting the jabs, which aren’t organised by the government, he’ll have been called by the local NHS.

They’ve got it better than every other country on Earth other than maybe Israel.

A) Europe isn’t the EU, it’s larger than that with a significantly greater population.

B ) it was obvious the point I was making

They got the vaccine approval right and the last week in particular has been very good. It’s annoying though as they’re only implementing now what was being discussed even as long ago as last summer, it could and should have all been in place from day one. That’s why places like the US, even though they approved later, will very soon overtake us in terms of proportion of the population vaccinated. Remember we’ve split the doses too.

Like I said, it will go much much quicker in the next few weeks now though.

That all works if you ignore the fact that the boxes are meant to confirm to Dept of Ed guidelines / instructions on nutritional values - you know the DoE that is part of the Govt? Why was wankstain Williamson not across this?

Yes. And I was setting out the reasons why I find this an inappropriate way to make your point. I don't see why you need to exaggerate even further with the extra decimals either.

I pulled you up on it because I have seen other posts where you used it. I've seen you claim 99% of people aren't racist, bit of a bold opinion to hold that.

Might depend if we class one or two doses as a completed vaccination programme. We should complete before the majority of Europe do either way though.

Nobody presumed I was doing anything other than making a point about the vast vast majority.

Not really. Obviously I want us to succeed. It will be interesting to see if they can successful roll it out though given the litany of failings so far and missed targets. The only thing that can get us out of this is the vaccine and we all want it to happen asap.

Correct the DoE set nutritional standards that schools and LEA are responsible for delivering. In this case where the food parcels have been outsourced they must meet those standards. I support the idea of providing good balanced food boxes rather than vouchers that last time around my local supermarket had to put up signs saying you couldn’t use on booze or fags.

I not sure how Williamson could be more across this? He doesn’t personally inspect each box and as soon as the matter came to light the DoE said they were investigating. And that’s the crux of the problem here, people aren’t going mental at Compass Group here and abusing them on Twitter they are blaming the government - so basically companies like Compass can take the piss safe in the knowledge that if found out they won’t get held to account. It’s bollocks that is.
