The Tories and their propaganda machine will divide the workers. Plenty are outraged by the meals scandal but everyone who defends it will know a mythical Tracey with 7 kids in the United colours of Benetton who deserves fuck all because she's a work shy, piss taker with a house, sky, PlayStation's etc that they are paying for with their taxes.

And that’s the crux of the problem here, people aren’t going mental at Compass Group here and abusing them on Twitter they are blaming the government - so basically companies like Compass can take the piss safe in the knowledge that if found out they won’t get held to account. It’s bollocks that is.

The LEA contracts this out to an outside company where the school cannot provide these meals.

Yet somehow this is the government fault? What would you have Boris do exactly? Nip down to Spar get a few goodies in and pack them up himself? Maybe he can pop round and spoon feed the baby.

The buck starts and stops with Compass and the LEA in question should say they will not be allowed to provide any further services for 12 months. It pisses me off that folk are too quick to jump down the throat of government when this actually isn’t their doing. They are paying £30 a kid a week. What else would you have them do that they aren’t exactly?

Wouldn’t it have been easier to hand a £30 voucher to the parents instead of all this arsing around subcontracting to a firm (probably Tory donors) to put together a box with an orange and a tin of condensed milk in it?

Cut out the wasteful middle man so to speak. That’s on the Govt, also the Govt should at least dictate what should go in the box if we are doing it this half arsed way.

I agree with this. The £30 is surely easier to process and it’s a cock up, I don’t relate Williamson at all.

However, people thinking it’s a conspiracy by the government to hold back money are simpletons.

The Govt isn’t competent enough to organise a conspiracy. I doubt if they could even spell conspiracy.

On the other hand, the company that got the contract were definitely bright enough to screw the kids over. There is a lot of easy money to be made off this Govt.

I've just read back over the thread ad can't see any posts that that describe this sort of scenario. At the bare bones is suggestion of corruption and links to Tory donors, but that doesn't equate to the government holding back funds.

Money deposited into a parent/carers bank account is the easiest option I would agree about that. Unfortunately there is always going to be some abuse and piss takers but that could be rectified under an electronic gift card scheme with regular top ups and restricting payment as invalid to fags and booze.

Good to hear, although starting from a low base value!

It looks haphazard, and I think there should be more plans/times laid out. The govt plan published yesterday had almost no detail apart from previously available information on the numbers per band, but there's no detail about why some places have it and some don't, or when anyone might expect to hear by.

As for Stanley de pfeifel, I didn't say he has done better or worse, you are very adept at twisting other people's posts to suit an agenda. I said he is a wanker and that it says much about his family that nobody would be at all surprised if he jumped the queue.
