I've become a part time plane spotter

Further to the sad loss of life in the Pakistan Airlines crash in May, it's reported that over 30% of pilots in Pakistan have fake flying licences. They got other people to take the exam for them.

Now that is scary
I used to work at Manchester airport and we ferried PIA staff between the airport and hotels in Manchester. They were sound guys and gals, but one night a real creep got on board and kept asking me where he could find prostitutes.

My mind flashed back to a time when I was transporting a Russian flight crew into town, and one of them said 'there are a lot of prostitutes in Manchester!.

Eh?

'Why do you say that?

'Girls with short skirts outside smoking'.

OK.

Anyway, I said to the PIA engineer I was driving into Manchester 'Just go up to a girl with a short skirt standing outside a bar smoking, and ask her how much she charges for doing business. They are all over the place'.

It still makes me giggle thinking about the reaction if he followed my advice.

There’s a MiG 29 Fulcrum flying in today to get a refurb at my local airport. Some super wealthy guy just bought it and is bringing it here as our airport has a small collection of Warbirds, owned by other wealthy like minded souls. My brother works in the shop so I’ll ne able to get in there and get a close up look. It should shatter the quiet of the valley as it flys in

Probably a good question for here.

we have recently seen a number of flights, Manchester to Manchester, they just take off, loop around and land.

Any idea why? keep the engines in action? flight window red tape?

Just the once? Prob the engine test. Or Practising go arounds. Are you sure they landed?

Got to put some photos up. Mig 29s are filth.

they've been on the ground for months, i presume they are giving them a test flight after maintenance , or they could be a fear of flying flights, but pretty sure they arent

Saw one do a full vector thrust demo at Farnborough 1988. 12 years old. Unforgettable. It went on to crash the next year at Paris. Then two collided at Farnborough in 93.

I think I was lucky, looking back. In my junior years attending air shows, the worst thing I saw was - again at Farnborough '88 - the super massive Antonov blow an engine on take off. Would NOT have wanted to see that thing come down.
