not sure whats going on with me at the minute !

got a text saying i am in the extremely vulnerable group. I have also received a clinically extremely vulnerable group letter. This is news to me so i guess i will have to get in touch with my GP to find out whats going on. I turned 60, 3 months ago and within those 3 months i have had two lots of skin cancer cut out of my head with about 25/30 stiches etc. Also had the camera up the arse and a few things cut out. Plus some cream to put on my head to 'burnout' any remaining pre-cancer ceils

Now i have a letter from the dept of Health and social care telling me to shield and to be put on the furlough scheme.

anyone else got something like this but unaware their were in this group ?

Regional scoreboard highlights

Everywhere down as you might expect and I expect testing was low to create that number. If not it is excellent news.

Not sure quite so good for the NW though this is the lowest number even here since New Year.

South:-

East 4449 - down over 2000 from 6573 - lowest number since Christmas.

London 8838 - down over 2000 but has been lower in past week.

South East 6289 - down nearly 2700 - biggest fall today.

South West 2598 - down just 238.

Midlands:-

East Midlands 2651 - down about 900

West Midlands 5063 - down 2000 but higher than even 2 days ago.

North:-

North East 1261 - down 700 but again lower 2 days ago.

Yorkshire 1200 - down nearly 1000 to lowest since Christmas

And North West 5083 - the biggest number outside the south but down 1281 in day. More than most but not as much as some.

However, lowest so far in 2021 though was lower in week after Christmas. And much lower for many weeks before Christmas.

I expect it is because you have had cancer treatment

By the way I never got round to the Northern Ireland data earlier (was chatting too long on phone - sorry) but here it is.

22 deaths. It was 9 last Saturday.

705 cases. It was 1442 last Saturday. Think that is lowest cases here in a while.

Positivity is 25.7% (very good for here always high as fewer tests) - it was 30.2% last Saturday.

yea but i feel fine all heeled nicely not sure what to do ! i could phone my GP but that is very busy as people from all over the area are being sent there for their jabs ! perhaps you heel quickly on the outside (scares) but it takes time for your body to get strong to fight of bugs etc

wouldnt mined some time off lol ;)

David Parrott is just 19 years old and he sits in isolation wearing an oxygen mask that help his COVID-ravaged lungs to breathe.

"They are sicker now, sicker than the first wave. Sicker and younger. And when you are sicker you are going to be in hospital for a longer period of time and then you can't really always predict what way things will go. We are seeing some tragic situations."

The medical research concensus now is that winter is worse for viruses because we lack vitamin D. People of all ages become sicker because the immune systems are weaker in the winter months.

By the way do not get too carried away by the low cases today without knowing the testing numbers from England as we will not for a couple of days sadly.

The winter weather may have hit the numbers it was possible to process. The news showed a lot of snow was around.

Only wrong by 99.86% - it cost £35m
There's the 'app', and the operation.

I know it's the Mirror, but...

Anyway, there was no good reason why they didn't take the open source app to begin with. It was proven tech, months before ours even got to the stage of being binned and completely rewritten.

In the scale of health service fuck ups it really is small beer. The "backbone for health" project in the early 2000s cost about £8bn and delivered virtually nothing.

Test and trace is a failure because they rely on people being truthful. They aren't.
Anyway its now delivering - only 9 months late but it is working now. Still needs a quarantine/isolate app to work properly.

Phenomenal numbers today regarding the vaccination, truly a great effort.

However banning travel is bittersweet. Sweet in that it’s the right thing to do, bitter that it’s 11 months too late.

I remember that one. Aside from the money the criticism is we waited six months for an app that could replicate the open source framework available at the start. Very predictable. And that the centralised contact centres were a big mistake. Where T&T was a success, it was because it was able to respond to localised outbreaks. There is more to that than just dialing a bunch of numbers. The local authorities were and remain perfectly poised to make it work. But Boris & Co insisted on building a big monolith, so they could touch it and whisper 'Big Data'. Absolute folly.

No one does cargo cult management like Government advisors. They have one idea they want to apply to everything, no matter that it is strictly contraindicated for the task. The brand is everything. It's there to create a mystical reverence amongst the bourgeoise dilletante classes.
