I’m genuinely surprised pep hasn't signed another striker.. last season Aguero was the main striker this season he’s sadly been on the sideline, very fortunate we’ve got many midfield players who are chipping in with goals because I wouldn’t rely on Jesus to be the main striker.

He’s not an out and out goal scorer yes he does bang a few in but he won’t win us the champions league for example.

Yesterday both sterling and zinchenko were lining up crosses only for no one to be seen in the box so they cut back and ended up losing it. He's supposed to be our striker, he should be the one making those runs. Need more than a shift from him .

If Sterling and Zinchenko are trying to put crosses into 1 centre forward surrounded by 7 defenders, that's bad play by them, not Jesus.

It doesn't matter who you have at striker, we will never score off crosses in those games where the opposition packs the box full of big men. It's just not possible unless you get 3 or 4 people in the box, but that's not what our squad is about.

Jesus' biggest problem is we're not getting behind defences much these days. Our goals yesterday came from 2 corners, a free kick and a 20 yard curling shot past half the palace side.

When it comes to the bigger games where teams actually try to attack and we can break, that's where Jesus scores goals, in parked bus situations he's there to occupy centre backs, offer some nice interplay around the box to let the little guys in on late runs or tee up shots around the box.

It would be nice if he could get a few more scrappy poachy goals from bus parking games but he's 23, it'll come with time.

I will give Jesus a few weeks free-pass to recover from covid but he needs to start scoring.

I am a big fan and thought we had Aguero's replacement in his first few seasons but his goalscoring has just fallen off.

He offers so much to the team so he doesn't need to be prolific but he should be aiming at 1 in 3 at the minimum in our team.

Unless a goal scoring right winger comes in, perhaps an Argentine this summer, then I think we need to get in a goalscoring striker.

I get some of the criticism of Jesus not scoring but I would never hold him accountable for not getting on the end of crosses in our side. Zinchenko and Sterling are so unpredictable when it comes to putting the ball in the box, it is impossible for any striker to consistently predict that it is the right time to make a run.

You could argue that KDB is very predictable at getting the ball in quickly and maybe it would be a fair assessment to say Jesus should get on the end of more of his balls into the box.

Am I the only person to notice that the apparently permanently offside tap in merchant hasn't been offside or box lurking in a long time?

Almost like he's being told to play differently this season?

To your point, yeah, Pep seems to be trying Gaby more on the left this season. Kinda how we played against Madrid last season.

Interestingly, this is often what we transit into during defensive phase:

-----------Sterling/Foden-----KDB-------------
--Gaby----Gundo-----Rodri------Bernardo--

16/17 was the best version of Jesus he was unbelievable. 7 goals and 4 assists in his 10 prem games. Where’s that Jesus gone

We now have almost all the pieces in place to launch a really serious challenge in Europe and domestically this Season except we are missing a striker, a goal scoring target man. So close ,surely even a loan deal could work..? Jesus is not that man and Sergio is walking wounded.

You couldn't play the way we've played the last couple of months with a goal scoring target man. We're essentially defending and attacking with 6 midfielders.

Danny Ings, and I'm not even taking the piss

He is a great player and will come good. There were signs, yesterday, and he is a tremendous asset to the team with a range of skills and a tenacious approach that brings the best out of others.
You clearly didn't get the memo. You're supposed to casually pop in and declare he'll never make it, like those others we all said wouldn't make it such as Stones, Gundogan, and the 15 others.
