Political relations between UK-EU

This could be made into a separate thread if Mods feel it isn’t on topic...

...but I’ve got a few questions here regarding what peoples’ actual point to their involvement in this thread is:

What did all the most vociferous Remainers on here actually do to prevent Britain leaving the EU?

There’s a very hard obsession with seemingly wanting to bask in some sort of reflected glory of being proven right (what the point in that is I have no idea!); but if you were so adamant Brexit was a bad idea, and when you saw the appallingly shit efforts put in by the Remain campaign... what did you all actually do about it?

Did you demand to speak to your local MP to question the inept or even complete lack of tactics used by the Remain campaign?

Did you create blogs/video channels/websites, did you organise meetings in your area, or even go door-to-door, to try and educate people further than what the Remain campaign were failing at doing?

Did you even get involved in the Remain campaign?

What did any of you actually do that makes you think you have a point with your continual (and very repetitive!) style of posting on this thread?

If you knew it was going to be such a shit show, surely you got off your arses and did something?!

Fair play if you all did get off your arses and do something, but if you did sod all apart vote Remain and then come on Bluemoon to moan at people for five years, then I fail to see what your point is with your posting tactics on this thread.
Exactly the same in all the other political threads, it’s endless spamming.

Some scour the Internet and Twitter specifically, looking for every single negative they can find about the current situation and then get off on posting it.

Not just Brexit but the Tory thread, anti Starmer stuff in his thread too and the Covid one.

Barriers will get easier as businesses get used to them and find how they work, but there will still be barriers that weren’t there before, that make it harder less reliable and more expensive to trade with the eu, and to convince countries in the eu they are better getting around barriers and paying the extra to buy of the UK when they can buy elsewhere with no barrier at all.
That won’t change, and for what benefit?
..........being out of the EU and free of all the disastrous consequences that Remaining in the EU would subject the UK to

why wouldn't it be? Its not like in the EU its being run centrally.
The EU’s record on vaccinations has been appalling up to now.
They were slow at procuring enough vaccine, at passing the vaccines to be used and have been even slower in delivering the vaccines to patients.

It has been so poor that Germany even went alone and bought their own.

If you add up all the EU vaccinations together they don’t come to a quarter of the UK total.
Bureaucracy at its finest.

how do you think being a member of the EU would have been a constraint? Bear in mind we secured and ordered all these doses whilst in the transition period.
Wrong.
We decided not to join the European slow vaccine procurement system. Had we have been staying then probably about 8 people would have been vaccinated by now.

I’m surprised you haven’t posted an appropriate made up tweet to show how shit we have been at this.

This conversation is absolute proof there is zero objectivity.

Him btw, not you mate.

meaning any EU country can do what they want....... saying we are performing better is as illogical as saying things would be worse under Corbyn - circumstances didn't go that way so introducing personal prejudices to try and suggest something would be different is frankly childish

shall we mention deaths both total and per million or numbers of infections? Maybe record numbers in hospital? We have got the vaccination regime right or at least better than other countries but lets not claim Covid-19 in anyway is shining example of how a government should respond in a crisis.

Wrong again.
You could try reading up on if and finding out for yourself.
The EU had a joint procurement agreement. Because we were in ‘transition’ we were given the option to join and said ‘no thanks’, and did our own thing.
Just as well we did as we have more than 4 million people vaccinated.

Your trouble is your ideology won’t let you see that we made the right decision.
At the current rate of vaccinations, France will have completed it by 2087.

Deflection. You posted about vaccinations and the EU. Can’t accept you were wrong and know nothing about it so you bring up something else. Strawman.

You do realise that health provision is the responsibility of individual countries so France’s pathetic vaccine rollout is down to France.
As for vaccine procurement we acted within EU laws when we decided to go it alone as could any other country that wanted to.

You win the patronising post of the day award. Like CITY winning the league cup there is a certain inevitability
It seems strange to me that you bring the League Cup into this- why??

Well - OK, if it helps....

I remember thumbing a lift down the M6 in '76 (after 2 buses and a long walk) and being there for DT's superb goal - although it was the other end of the pitch

And I have been there for every final since

So what was the point?

The only point that your post makes to me is to remind me that the League Cup is - and always has been - more important to me than some other CITY fans

But - what has that to do with this thread?

It was an attempt at humour, never mind. Thanks for sharing your story though

Oh - fuck

The bad news is - I now rescind your POTD award given earlier

The good news is - it is transferred to this post

But - whilst I will be interested to read any responses to this very valid question........

My experience of 5 years ago is that they........

Did - much the same as they do in 2021......

Just posted very repetitive bollocks in a very supercilious, condescending and arrogant manner - littered with descriptions of just how thick, racist, clueless, uncultured, uneducated etc. Leave supporters must be.

So - all very - groundhog day really.

Only now - their desperation is proper funny to observe
