I echo this. Hope things turn around soon for you, but I'm sure you posting will improve the understanding of it for many. Good luck, I hope some antibiotics help.

depending on the care home provider, between 5 and 20% of care home staff have refused a vaccine when offered, and up tp 2.7% of residents. I wonder what the overall uptake up to now is?
Any care home staff who are unwilling to have the vaccine when offered shouldn't be allowed to go to work.
Have the vaccine or get another job

I know even asymptomatic cases can have long term lung scarring, does anyone know if this type of scarring heals itself over time or is there likely to be some kind of permanent feature? I've never smoked, but as I understand it 'smokers lung' can heal in time if people quit, wondering if the damage caused by Covid can do likewise and improve?

Still waiting for the call (they’ve messaged to advise of a computer issue...).

Feet are actually getting painful now...what on earth is causing that? It’s like chilblains.

England only vaccination update:

170, 900 new vaccination doses in England yesterday. That like other nations is a fall from expectations but a small rise on the 154. 564 reported yesterday . Though well down on the 274, 793 last Friday.

There were also 3, 750 second doses.

Starting to look like there may be a few supply restraints.

3, 687, 206 have now had a first dose and 431, 136 of those have also had their second dose.

That means absolutely nothing without any context and just comes across as fear mongering.
When did he have his first jab? When did he test positive for the 2nd time. How ill is he this time in comparison to the first time he tested positive?

not fear mongering at all, just saying what i just found out.

he was tested positive about October last year, he had a mild cold.

he had his first jab a couple weeks ago

he gets tested daily working in NHS and has tested positive yesterday, he says just a mild cold again and is isolating.

he's young, but does have a collapsed lung, so needs to be careful.

but at this stage, he is fine.

Mate of mine works at stepping hill and has tested positive 3 times since November on the rapid test each time sent for real test and each time negative.
It’s very rare for two tests to come back positive in six months if their not the rapid ones.

Muscles in my legs ached like mad when I had it and my joints were very painful, could hardly walk down stairs

England hospital deaths - 842. Big weekend catch up and up from 747 last week. Though pro rata a smaller increase so not as disastrous as it might look.

Be warned though the numbers increased in the next two days last week. So this very likely will not be the worst day this week. And we will almost certainly top 1000 tomorrow in England hospitals alone.

Unfortunately 103 of those deaths were from the NW. Though that is about the average from past weeks which has been around 12% of total.

So no actual sign of rising NW deaths as a region. Just more because there were more deaths in total.

Either way we are clearly not yet at the peak of deaths. It is going to get worse.

England hospital deaths 3 wks v 2 ws v last wk v today:-

365 / 40 NW / 11%

582 / 109 NW / 19% - this was a very big catchup over Christmas / New Year death reporting period number I think. Just as NW always under registers deaths at weekend it happened over the holiday too.

747 / 97 NW / 13%

842 / 103 NW / 12% Today As you see death percentage in NW is pretty stable and not increasing.

And there is a hint of overall numbers starting to level off.

The Mrs has tested positive this morning. I've had symptoms since yesterday so assuming I've got it but I'm working from home anyway so I'm working on the basis of just isolating for 14 days if that's correct?

The Mrs was struggling with pains and headaches, I've got zero smell/taste and a heavy chest. She's had Beechams which have helped a lot so far?

842 England hospital deaths:

By Region :

176 South East, 154 Midlands, 124 NE & Yorkshire, 121 London, 118 East. 103 North West, 46 South West

The only double figure numbers in the NW hospitals (just over 10 each) are in East Lancashire and Blackpool.

By age:

20 - 39 (2) 0.2%

40 - 59 (41) 4.9%

60 - 79 (336) 39,9%

80 plus (463) 55.0%

Slight hint of a closer spread between top two brackets but no real evidence yet the death numbers in the over 80s are being impacted by vaccinations.

Still probably a week or two away from hopefully starting to see that.

The overall death numbers going DOWN will likely appear before we see that in an obvious way.

Could be "Covid Toes" - yes, it is a known side effect. Not something too bad to worry about as it is a sign of the immune system kicking in, but of course that's no help to you at this moment. As a gout sufferer I really sympathise and hope you get better soon.

EDIT: But make sure you get it diagnosed properly.

Scotland update:

71 deaths - was 54 last week

1165 cases - was 1875 last week

Positivity 11.1% v 12% last week

Patients 1989 - up 30 in day

ICU ventilated 150 - up 4 in day

Cases falling, deaths not yet. Much as expected and much like England.
