Thank you, but being temporarily retired (sort of), having just myself and 3 cats to care about now and having spent my working life compiling data and writing about it helps.

But mostly it is just being crackers, I suspect! What my brother thinks anyway and I never argue with him.
Just make sure you get yourself a proper hobby when this shandy virus is finished. You're doing a good job with the latest stats but I don't venture in here too much. I see your username and think Grim Reaper ; )

Fucking hell. Hit me big time this.

it is very depressing but we knew after the holidays it would be huge , comes of telling people they could plan to have the holidays together , changing plan and tiers were too late to stop people , i really shake my head at the whole fucking shambles from the start

Looks like there was a lot of out of hospital England catch up deaths today. Care homes for example.

That is a very high number on top of the all settings from the rest of the UK and England hospital 842.

I said earlier it would be about 1400 based on past data so that's around 200 unexpected to go on top of the 945 we had without England deaths outside hospitals. Well over 600 more in total from England outside hospital is very unusual.

Not sure about your maths. 500k per day for 28 days would mean 14m vaccinate. UK pop is around 67m unless you are including 25% of population who may already have had it but then you are double counting as they may also then go on to have the vaccine.
That's over 50% of the population.

25% of 67m is 16m
7m have already been vaccinated
14m to be vaccinated over 28 days. Total 37m.

Newbury Racecourse which is hosting a COVID vaccination hub that provides up to 1,500 jabs daily is temporarily halting the service to enable its horse racing to continue.

The Berkshire site opened its vaccination hub on Thursday last week as part of the UK's drive to inoculate against the virus.

But less than a week later, the centre will shut for a day on Wednesday for a scheduled race day.

Horse racing is able to continue under lockdown rules because it is seen as an elite sport
This is bizarre. Just cancel the horse racing or continue it but keep the doors to the stands shut so vaccinations can continue.

I'd cancel the Premier League now for as long as necessary if it meant vastly improving the vaccination rate.

No elite sport is a sport at all if no-one can watch the bloody thing.

Which is the approach the security guard is taking. Not worth a confrontation on whatever £ an hour they get.

However if they can summon 5 security guards to confront someone at a check out, they should be doing the same to those people spreading a deadly virus.
Sadly it's not unusual for security to go for the softer target. The police are often the same, hassling people walking in empty countryside and often ignoring the maskless in shops.

So now have to worry about a friend whose apparently broken their nose, if they end up going to hospital they'll almost certainly get Covid and they have a compromised immune system so that will bode well.

Just as I'd managed to stop worrying for a while.

You're double counting, and best estimates for infected are in the region 12-20%, not 25%

Even if we take your 25%, the correct maths is:

Vaccinated: 21 million
Not vaccinated (67-21) = 46 million, of which 25% = 11.5 million have had it.

Either vaccinated or previously infected: 21 + 11.5 = 32.5 million, 44%, very much a best case scenario.

These deaths are all from well before the lockdown has had an impact and started to decrease cases as they have.

The (much lower) deaths from these numbers (and hopefully by then the impact of the vaccine too) will emerge around mid February.

This lag is often not realised by people linking deaths now with what is happening now. ~

These sadly were all created just before or around Christmas when everyone was seeing their old folks as 'we have to because its Christmas' and they might not be here next Christmas.

Now many of them are not because.....
