Some big lump to enable our small nimble players to get in is not as daft as it sounds.

Anyone who's listened to Pep go on nonstop about how important it is to have players who are fit all the time for the past year and then thinks we are going to sign Ings, a 29 year old cripple with one season in his career at the standard we require is plenty daft.

You couldn't play the way we've played the last couple of months with a goal scoring target man. We're essentially defending and attacking with 6 midfielders.
Well said - the game is not just dependent on an out and out hitman; it would change our whole approach and not necessarily for the better.

You clearly didn't get the memo. You're supposed to casually pop in and declare he'll never make it, like those others we all said wouldn't make it such as Stones, Gundogan, and the 15 others.
Old Chinese proverb say those who read memo miss what they see with own eyes, on pitch.

I get that but its really reliant on Bernie ,Foden & especially KDB covering every inch of the pitch. Injury or just getting burnt out is the end of that.
This is where the rotation of those three with Gundo, Mahrez, Raz, Torres, Gabby and potentially others like Palmer, McAtee and Doyle is vital. The key, for me, is to give one a rest every few games; we are not only the three players mentioned.

How !ong has he been here ? Not for me ,pep has him busy but not producing what he was brought for

We need someone to take over from sergio , badly

Why badly? We're on course to go top of the table, we're in a cup final, we've sauntered through our CL group.

I'd say we're in a fairly strong position.

Also what does that mean for Jesus? He's not going anywhere, either he replaces Sergio and we buy another world class striker who competes with him, or he doesn't replace Sergio and we buy a new world class striker who Jesus has to compete with.

Sometimes I think people forget how young Jesus is. He's the 4th youngest player in the squad.

We need a prolific striker to win things and to lead the line , we wont always have pep to get us to play well with no strikers

This is just such a stupid conversation.

We need a prolific striker for when Pep leaves? That's your big urgent post?? We urgently need a striker for 2023/24?

I am not so sure we do. In fact, I think that our struggles against a ten-man defence are lessened by playing a system that allows goals to come from more sources. Sergio is such a hero, a legend, that is difficult to countenance not replacing him with a true goal scorer like he is. For me, the better current approach is the one we are using but with an out and out goal-getter in reserve, as a secondary plan. No huge name will accept such a role so I wonder if it is one for a youngster instead, who may become a legend but isn't yet one in the game.

Every team needs a prolific striker , we have drawn too many games without sergio , he has been a huge miss and gabby has not stepped up

You do realise the solution to this is replace Sergio, not Jesus? No one is selling a 23 year old who scores every other game so a 33 year old can have a swansong last season as a backup.

You should be posting in the Aguero thread.

When did 103 goals and assists in 167 games stop being clinical?

That's the irony of Gabby Jesus - if he didn't play for us he'd be third on our list to buy behind only Haaland and Mbappe.

And that's ignoring the fact he's probably the best pressing forward around.

9 to 10 PL goals a season? thats what he is averaging. He hasn't really ripped up trees.

We drew too many games when the whole team had a slump in form. In my opinion, we may be better with 3 midfielders who may be capable of 20 a piece.

That is over four years or there abouts and doesnt show the picture of him starting well, tailing off, the odd good game then poor again , he just hasnt worked out long term , for me

Sergio has been out how long ? He should have staked his claim, injuries permitting

Play him left wing , he is rarely in the box and when sergio leaves replace him as near as we can to him

He doesnt score in the PL every other game does he? His goals per minute is poor for a team that creates as many chances as we do.
