I registered for one through my work but I’ve had no follow up for 2 months now.

I’m just genuinely interested, being young and reasonably healthy and stuck in a classroom with groups of children in one form or another if I’ve picked it up asymptotically.
Fair enough . I am on the follow up with covid and antibody tests , i think you have to be in that group for the antibody test

the hospitals are aware of it to,i smashed my ankle up 4 weeks ago, operation at 8am with pins and screws each side and home at 4pm in a cast, they couldnt get me out fast enough, the porter pushing me about was saying the hospital in all wards is crawling with it
It will be so difficult to keep this virus out of hospitals. Even with MRSA which seems to be an ongoing problem, wards have to be closed down. That’s not possible at this time. It will all come out at the enquiries.

Hospitals are trying their best but you really dont want to be in one right now

My dear old Uncle Reggie died from covid this morning, had the vaccine last week but he caught it whilst in hospital.
I thought i understood about covid but i think it's only when you lose someone you love that you truly understand the impact on so many families.
He was 96 , had had a good innings & was just the nicest man i've ever known, he was the guy making everyone laugh at family get togethers & as kids we all idolised him.
Can't even go to his funeral back in Cardiff.
R.I.P Reggie, i shall miss you & thank you for the time we spent together , learning how to fish & scrump apples after my sperm donor father walked out.
Lovely tribute.
RIP to Reggie

England hospital deaths 3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v Today

383 / 16 NW / 4% (New Year data underreport in NW)

625 / 62 NW / 10%

771 / 78 NW / 11%

710 / 70 NW / 10% Today

The good news being very consistent and no sign yet of NW deaths rising.

You're kidding me.

Despite being on an island, with a highly educated and generally compliant population, being one of the richest countries in the world, having a highly advanced life science sector and a health care system at the direct disposal of the government we have the worst death toll in the entire world*

Our pandemic response has been nothing short of a national disgrace. It's absolutely indefensible, and there should be a reckoning for the guilty.

*bar Slovenija, lest anyone wish to quibble.
And everything since early December is down to the new variant. Before that we hadn't done great, like Germany, but there were a lot worse per capita. Then the Tusami of the new variant hit.

Perhaps you should watch Dr John Campbell's video today as to the effect of the new varriant.

My wife had the vaccine yesterday and she’s sick as a dog today, aching everywhere and has been in bed all day now, anyone else had this reaction?

Scenes in my local shop just now: a youngish guy comes in and the woman behind the till tells him he can’t come in without a mask. He says he hasn’t got one so she gives him a disposable and tells him it’s 50p. He refuse to pay then says “I’m exempt”. I was in the queue and couldn’t help saying “No you’re not”. The woman tells him if he doesn’t wear it he isn’t coming in. He then starts shouting “Have you not seen the Australian news? They’re lying to you. It’s all a con..” Before he can carry on the 3 or 4 of us near the counter just shout him down, tell him to shut up and get out and he slinks off. Then when he was gone everyone starts thanking the woman (who works part time there) and telling her she did the right thing.

It was quite heart warming.

710 England hospital deaths More details

Note there was quite a lot of catch up. About 30 cases were 3 weeks or more old and one dated from May.

Regions: 144 London, 144 Midlands. 114 East, 104 South East, 84 NE & Yorkshire, 70 North West, 50 South East

Hospitals with the most deaths:

40 from Barts London, 28 Norfolk & Norwich, and Liverpool at 21 the only NW hospital above single figures.

Age ranges:

20 - 39 (7) 0.9%

40 - 59 (54) 7.6%

60 - 79 (283) 39.9%

80 PLUS (366) 51.6%

Not much change here though second time that 80 Plus has nudged going below 50% this week and if it carries on and dies so might be significant.

1st dose vaccinations gone up by 426k in England according to the BBC. I wonder what the UK figure will be? Hopefully not a reporting error.
I have posted the other nations earlier this afternoon if you look back over past few pages. I do so here every day as soon as they are reported around lunch time normally.

As I recall one was up the other down but England is by far the biggest contributor to the total, of course. So any rise will be created there.
