Political relations between UK-EU

i think its called throwing enough mud in the hope that some will stick and obscure the issue that was being dicussed.
It’s non stop
On the one front we have the let’s hammer the eat out to help out scheme (not sure it caused the spread any more than other things like summer holidays) to discredit Sunak who seems quite popular
Another front is the vaccine nationalism bullshit
Then we have the tweets essentially saying the vaccine rollout is successful due to the NHS doing it (not untrue), but surely you have to buy them to then administer them, no?

I wonder how the Irish government and people feel this morning?

They have had 4+ years of their economic, political, and if push came to shove, ,military masters - the EU - constantly using them to gain an advantage in the Brexit negotiations declaring clearly and unambiguously that they would never ever allow a hard border in the north of Ireland, all said we now know for certain to try to stop our Brexit.
Then, within a few hours of realising they had fucked up the most important public health issue of the last 100 years, unilaterally declaring a hard border in the north of Ireland. No debate, no discussions, no by-your-leave, nothing. Just an imposition of a hard border. It’s like the GFA doesn’t matter to them.
Dublin - not consulted. Belfast - not consulted. London - not consulted.
They quickly saw the writing on the wall however and rescinded the illegal imposition of a hard border, but we must never forget, when push comes to shove the EU will trample over any and all other parties to get its way. And if that means breaking decades earned goodwill, not to mention international law, not to mention putting British lives in further danger so to do, then so be it.

Just imagine what this vaccine situation would have been like if we hadn’t left this foul, fetid, stinking, undemocratic big boys business club.

So would you prefer the uk vaccine mitigation roll out to be slower and vaccinate less people?
Or better still give vaccines to other countries half way through the process?
You can say the handling has been shit (not sure you will get much disagreement from many) but you can’t then use that as a means to criticise this part or say it doesn’t solve ‘shit’
Not one person has said that, ever. Being very good at vaccination while the eu have ballsed it up so far and behaved in blind panic doesn’t mean all those deaths caused by shit government up to now is all forgiven and okay.
It also won’t mean in the coming years being out of the single market and customs union, purely by conservative party choice, costing jobs and businesses and possibly the united kingdom while we try and recover is okay either.

I hope we dont export any vaccines to the EU until everyone of our citizens has been vaccinated. I wonder what the US reaction to the EU stance will be. JFK bombers in the air diplomacy? They dont usually react well to unilateral and suspect illegal protectionism by anybody.

Biden has been , shall we be polite and say, conspicuous by his absence.

We don’t export vaccines. A company based here has a contract, which it is being slow to meet to supply vaccines made in the eu. It will get up to speed though and it will supply vaccines, where from is down to them.
We need the whole world vaccinated as quick as possible, there is no point some isolated bits being done, anyone holding vaccines back from anyone is wrong whoever and wherever they are.

This attitude will get us absolutely nowhere. Painting the EU as the antichrist serves no purpose going forward. I hope the most vulnerable people's lives globally can be saved, hoarding vaccines when it's unnecessary to do so is unnecessary show of spite.

I don’t think anyone is hoarding vaccines

The EU want vaccines made in the UK to be diverted to the EU. While at the same time they are threatening to put a stop to exports. If they do that we should make clear they wont get any supplies from UK based companies.
Any UK government will always put its citizens first. Thats its duty.

Is there anything sweet, nice 'n cuddly about the EU? It's always struck me as a political version of our much-loved Uefa. Yer couldn't find two bigger cuntish organisations if yer tried.

I dissagree, if the EU behaves like they are and bullys their way to the front of the queue, you just dont accept what they are doing and carry on supplying them. That would be foolish. The UK has a right and duty to put its own citizens first. You stand up to bullys.

I went to bed last night wondering how quickly the EU would have to backtrack after dropping this almighty bollock and I'm gratified to see they have totally caved in already.

You really have to wonder who thought this was a great idea.
I think they are called EU apparatchiks - the faceless unelected bureaucrats of an Orwellian nightmare.

The EU are wrong, and we would be wrong too. Isn’t going to happen anyway.

State of the front pages this morning. Full of bravado, 'war' and them and us headlines.

I must admit I started to type something but then stopped. So far, as far as vaccine is concerned, a good job has been done. Someone or some people somewhere have been very smart in vaccine procurement. Best to give some credit where it is warranted.

The rest....well....
