Keir Starmer

To be fair, it was pretty clearly a misunderstanding rather than a lie as such.

The issue now is more the EMA have been politicised in all of this. Supporting remaining a member of them and at the same time advocating our vaccine rollout strategy isn’t the contradictory position Johnson was pushing it was. It’ll stick even more now though so it was a real gaffe from Starmer.
Was it? Saying he 'Misheard' is very Dianne Abbott, and we're talking about quotes he made in parliament over a number of occasions, and the EMA is an EU body. He was championing it, and wanted us in it, after we've left the EU, similar to staying in the CU, or SM, in other words, embrace the EU's methods.
Supporting the UK vaccine programme was something he had to do, as the
govt had ensured the supply, but left to the likes of him, we'd still be faffing around. The bloke is a grey, boring character that's not exactly set the world on fire,
and his frankly pathetic shiny new patriotic face isn't going to mask the fact that he's a rabid europhile, who holds the exact opposite views to those he's trying to recapture.

Given his reaction to what he thought Johnson was saying, I’d say it very clearly was as if it wasn’t, that’s suspending reality and thinking he’s suddenly turned into a complete moron.

I support EMA membership, it’s not contradictory to also supporting our vaccine rollout or approach. Johnson’s pushing a false narrative that had we still been members of the EMA we’d still be at the starting blocks and it’s working.

Lol, saw this yesterday, Boris accusing Max Headroom of championing
the EMA, and the fact that he's done this 4 times, and it's all on record.
Cue, stammering Starmer saying he said no such thing, ie; lying through
his back teeth, and a grovelling apology later.
This bloke. supposedly a lawyer, is obviously a shit one too, if you're
going to tell lies, you need a very good memory, and even then the truth eventually comes out.
I don’t really know the context to this but seems he made an error, acknowledged it and apologised. Should have just doubled down on the lie like the **** opposite him

What did you think Johnson was saying?

It sounded as though Johnson's reference to advocating being in the EMA was referring to something in connection with Covid, and Starmer reacted to that.

Referring back to something said in 2017 in the same sentence as referring to vaccination now is a bit of a stretch.

I thought he was talking nonsense, just not the nonsense Starmer thought he was.
Really?
Johnson:
''We would still be at the starting blocks because he wanted to stay in the EMA, and said so 4 times.''

Starmer:
''The Prime Minister knows I've never said that, from this despatch box or anywhere else.''

Then, proof of him saying exactly this, including parliament, shows he said
exactly that, other videos confirm it, as Johnson said.

All in all, not great, hence a convoluted apology.

Yes and he said why he reacted the way he did, which makes sense. Like I said, Johnson’s statement is still nonsense either way.

Personally (and I’m not a fan of either), it’s slightly refreshing to have someone willing to correct the record at least.

Fine, if you want to believe that, not many do, but to each their own.

Believe what?

I’m not sure on the point you’re trying to make. If it was an intentional lie, then he wouldn’t correct the record on the same day would he?

He clearly made a gaffe. I don’t understand the alternative interpretation though as it makes no sense, let alone the obvious hypocrisy of it unless people are also posting on a weekly basis in the Boris thread about similar with far more rigour.

I'm smiling at his antics now, someone in the Labour party has told
him the absolutely astonishing news that traditional Labour supporters are
patriotic, and support the monarchy and armed forces. Jezza and Co. destroyed that section of their base, and got slaughtered, he's an avowed
anti monarchist, so any efforts he makes will be comical to watch.
It's like trying to get Jacob Rees Mogg to champion the virtues of Dianne Abbott.

"Jezza" wanted to remain.

The others, Starmer and co, wanted to leave as he was scathing of the EU, personally.

Since Labour is supposed to be democratic party Corbyn conceded to the party.

I wish people would stop lying about what happened here.

Johnson gives answers to questions that are not asked, Starmer asks a wrong question, Johnson answers another question.

The clue is PMQs, is PRIME MINISTERS QUESTIONS.

That Speakers of the house allow the idiotic back and forth lies and deceit we see every week and it does a huge disservice to democracy and to the electorate, it is a pathetic shit show that should be beneath serious political figures.

Starmer---Can the PM tell me why the death rate is going up
Johnson---Under Labour the death rate was double
Starmer --Can the PM tell me there are no nurses
Johnson---Under Labour there were no nurses
Starmer --does the PM know its wednesday
Johnson---Under Labour it would be thursday

If Johnson wants to ask Starmer Questions, he should ask the Leader of the House to timetable it and we could have LOTO questions

Johnson--Can the LOTO tell me why death rates are going up
Starmer --Under the Tories the death rate doubled

and on and on and on and on and on.

Parliament needs Ministers to answer the fucking question, not ignore it and answer a different question as it is taking the piss out of every single person in the country. These cunts are elected to govern us not give a poorly performed version of Llandudno Pier's Punch and Judy show whilst a group of idiotic over important preening twats guffaw in the background like they had just discovered their big brothers copy of Razzle readers wives.

In all my time watching Parliament and I have watched a lot of it over the years, this current bunch of nomarks, ill educated cretinous cunts are without doubt the biggest collection of fucking idiots ever elected to represent us.

People from other countries must look at the "mother" of Parliaments and laugh their fucking cocks off at how ridiculous our democracy is.

Burn the place down with all the cunts in it and start again from scratch.

Yep, it’s horrendous currently.

What I’d actually like to see is both the main parties split, overhaul the whole system and move to proportional representation.

Never going to happen, but I do think we’re at the point a complete overhaul is needed.
