Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

He has been losing it for a while now. I can only imagine what he will be like if Leicester and everton beat them in their next 2 games. And then Fulham at anfield? Happy days

Extra tidbit to add to my prev post. For convenience's sake, I'll copy the Youtube comment's translation;

Translation:
Jürgen Klopp has had enough, that’s how it is- he just can‘t win a game when this journalist is around.

0.25s:
Jürgen: "Oh no f** off! An interview with you feels like tooth ache... You have to come here or what??? And why do you always laugh so silly when you see me? Have I ever won a single point when you were there?? Seuchenvogel!!! (I can’t translate that ) There are 50 people working at SWR (Channel). And they send you?!"

Journalist: "But it’s not my fault..."

Jürgen: "Yes, and therefore- no interview."

The poor journalist didn't do anything wrong. He just happens to be there when Klopp‘s team has a bad day. And because Klopp is quite superstitious, he calls the poor guy responsible. And created a hilarious new word: "Seuchenvogel" Which means like: a bird that transmits the plague (in German language you can just put words together and they make a totally new meaning)

Nice to know he is a **** in German as well as in English

agree, we got a couple of free kicks for minor shirt pulls, Raz in first half and one in second. although there was no theatrics. Its tough for the forwards, if you dont make a foul clear and obvious you might not get it, seen Sterling / Aguero a number of times not awarded pens but could have if they have dived - they then get hounded for when they do.
Yet Gabby did make the most of it to ensure there was a VAR review to be made and we still didn’t get it. Shafted.

One thing we can take away from Sunday, apart from being top of the league of course. The ability to now go into pressure cooker games and dictate play, Liverpool wanted to start off flying but City simply didn’t let them. The pace of the passing and the game went down to walking pace, not what they wanted when they play pinball machine football round the edge of the box from those long passes.

Apart from maybe that effort from Jones which Stones got in front of to send round the post, I can’t remember any heart in mouth moments apart from Salah hitting the floor.

Hopefully this new system of being solid and not giving anything away at the back, coupled with dominating possession will pay dividends when the knock out stages of the champions league start up again.

I'd been saying for a while once teams had sussed out our old system after two great years it needed tweaking. We had the ridiculous situation of bang average teams we were totally dominating just banging a long ball over the top and scoring. I knew if we tightened our defence given our quality we should score at least once and we are now doing this. If we didn't miss so many chances in a fair few games we would be even more comfortable.

I have to agree to disagree with you.

For me, Rodri was babysat for quite a while, with Fernandihno at his side and still didn't make many forward passes. In fact, for me, it's just over a season that that happened.

His saving grace has been the change of system as it uses all his attributes and he's confident in understanding his role as there's always a pass forward on or an outlet somewhere.
Can somebody whisper this into the ear of someone at MCWFC? There's always a forward pass, sssshhhhhh!

I hope Pep stays for a lot longer than another 2 and a half seasons, he is class, a proper bloke and the best manager out there by miles. As for that utter dick jii I haven’t heard much from him/it today
I believe that Pep will stay longer.
Why?
Well, first of all I don't think that he will want any subsequent manager to reap the benefit of his work.
He clearly is happy at City and enjoying manipulating the press.
Finally he 'gets' us!

Makes a big difference going to Anfield & not conceding in the 1st 20 mins as were usually chasing the game and leaving spaces at the back

That’s what you have to do with Liverpool, you can’t give them 20 minutes in the game to blitz a team and take the game away quickly. They have done that to us three times at Anfield in the last few seasons. Pep has your number Klopp.

If this one goes against Liverpool they will have reached the panic station.

13th Feb Leicester v Liverpool

Carraghar clutching at straws when he said look Man City last season last season was a transition in part look at the ages of our player to Liverpool!? Oh says we need 3 first team players in the summer to come in haha! They will get a shock these yanks want putting another 150m in oh they don’t get top four klopp be lucky to get 10m transfer kitty. Plus can’t see any mugs buying a Salah for over 100m either so they can splurge again.

Liverpool are done Klopp done.

I think Pep has everyones number this season. Contain teams in the first half by reducing their chances (and perhaps taking any that come our way) and then in the second half open up and become more aggressive up front.

We could all see just how hard this season was going to be with Covid, injuries and the sheer number of games given we go as deep as possible in all competitions. They've made a conscious decision to try and conserve energy and is superb squad management IMO.
