And now for the good news..... England hospital data

As I suggested yesterday would happen after the usual small Monday rise - today everything down big. Same trend as all last week,

And every single area down on both measures too.

Patients

Down 953 to 22, 067 - the lowest numbers in hospital since 27 December

Was 27. 397 last Tuesday.

Ventilators

Down 69 to 2911 - the lowest since 9 January.

Was 3324 last Tuesday.

Regionally:

All areas fell in both patients and ventilators both day to day and week to week. A great sign that this is not just cases going downward.

North West fell by 140 to 3108 patients and have now fallen for 8 straight days from 4017.

Ventilators fell 6 to 343 - was 367 a week ago and 388 week before that,

Other areas have similar falls such as

London fell by 139 patients to 4574 and ventilators by 17 to 934.

Like all the other nations in the UK England hospital numbers all heading one way - which is even more important than case numbers day to day.

Same as the pricks who go out who have underlying health conditions putting pressure on the nhs
Do you mean like all those with underlying conditions that might be working in essential services like hospitals or care homes, or just trying to keep their jobs so they can pay the bills and look after their families.
I don’t an opinion either way on gyms, but just because you do doesn’t mean you have to be a dick over other people just doing their jobs.

That’s another theory, and I’d have thought so too but they must have some reason for suggesting it, as a possibility.
possibly it was just one batch that ended up in Wuhan, and it wasn’t their fault. It would be good to know for sure either way.
Really the point is they will get nothing from China, apparently not allowed to talk to anybody in authority or something like that, the wife was talking so only caught a little bit of that section tbf

No people can get food delivered, plenty of help out there for people who shield to get goods
Not everyone can get food delivered. Slots are difficult to get due to the lockdown and I'm glad you're an expert on such matters. You're lucky to have good health obviously, don't take it for granted. You could have been asymptotic and delivered it unknowingly to all the care homes you visited

Fair point. Have you got one of them wives that talk through something then ask what’s happening after you’ve missed it ? :)

I’m actually having a pop at these people who go out when there don’t need to

I tell them i should be tested , tell the schools too , explain all the places I go and these places don’t care

at Sainsbury’s I can get 2 slots a week

Maybe the people missing the gym can jog round carrying food for them ;)

Runs away out of the thread before I get duffed up by one of them ...

25, 677 is latest UK hospital number.

The peak was 39, 325 on 18 January.

Which coincides exactly with the date of the highest single day England death total in hospital of 850.

Patient numbers were last lower than this number today on 29 December.

21, 687 was the first wave peak of UK patients on 12 April

We may drop below that this next week. But it is a reminder we are falling but still at a higher level than we ever were in April.

Okey dokely, questions and musings for the more knowledgable among the bluemoonerati...

Bear with me as I’m not always the best at getting my thoughts written down:

Non political answers please!

Why is it that we’ve had this bigger spike than most countries across the world who’ve also had this 3rd wave? We saw the graphs posted from earlier today, including European countries who have also had variants. I watch the Americans in a stadium watching the Super Bowl etc.

Is it because our borders have been so lax that we‘ve had more variants which eventually have caused ones that have been so much more transmissible? I expected other countries to be suffering the same way we have been yet we seem to be the worst.

I speak to my brother in Stockholm nearly every day, and after the news a few weeks ago about their hospitals getting full it hasn’t really changed and they seem to be over their peak too, and bear in mind they’ve had ZERO lockdown, my brother who is a hairdresser hasn’t ever been had the shop closed, and restaurants and bars still open etc, they’ve just had to be a bit more careful.

Thoughts?
