Are we not grown up to be told that when the numbers get to ‘this’ we can have ‘that’? Treating us like kids im afraid.

yes there have been plenty of dickish behaviour by the public but its a tiny minority and the vast majority have been good little girls and boys
22nd is supposedly the date the road map will be revealed. Just have to wait

Yes, I’ve said all along that instead of promising certain things by certain dates, they should be promising things based on case/hospitalisation numbers. I don’t know why they haven’t done this and it does bug me.

But as they are not going to do this, we are going to have to work it out ourselves. 5000 cases a day / 15000 in hospital are the levels I guess where we’ll see a shift in policy.

Yep. And the way case numbers have been coming down, we might be close to that 5000 a day figure by the time the road map out of lockdown is announced in 12 days time. If we are at around 5000 daily cases on the 22nd Feb then it’ll be interesting to see what is in the announcement.

I think the base room cost is negated as they iirc are decided on overhead and %occupancy.

The hotel has far more greater costs to enable them to accommodate and isolate members of the public. As I pointed out this morning, the boss has said that insurance is a huge uplift on him.

They also have to provide (on top of normal facilities), 3 meals per day, 24/7 security in sufficient numbers wrt numbers of guests. I don't know for sure, but would suspect staff will be looking for bonuses or enhanced rates due to the risks. Cleaning will have to be more regular and thorough too, so all in all, it is not difficult to see why costs are high.
Now I was told food wasn’t in the price so fair enough if it is

I will also add that whilst I’ve been annoyed at a lot of aspects of the government’s handling of the pandemic, I don’t for one minute believe that they are keeping us penned in as some petty show of power. It’s simply that they are not yet in a position to give any solid info.

I’m not sure they will be ready to tell us what we can do for our holidays on 22nd Feb, it’s too far out to put anything converter in place. However, like last year, I think things will change rapidly on this front in June/July

In any thing in life we know what our targets are.
Eat this many less calories and youll lose that weight.
hit that sales target and you get this bonus.
tidy your room and get this spends

etcetc

Speaking to a few people today about it and they’re just sick to the back teeth of it now. I don’t think this weather helps but just got to carry on as we are for a few weeks yet.

I’ve started going for walks at night as it’s driving me insane but walking on the footpath in this weather is fun and games and done a few pirouettes the last couple of nights.

I have to say that this thread has taken a disturbing downwards plunge into the depths of despair tonight.
Apart from the grim death toll, there are a number of positives today including falling case numbers, the WHO’s endorsement of the Oxford / AZ vaccine and positive impacts of the Pfizer vaccine in Israel.

it’s easy to feel down at the moment but there good opportunities to exercise / get out for a walk and keep in touch with friends and family (albeit from a distance in most cases at the moment).

There isn’t going to be a sudden removal of restrictions with reported daily deaths at around 1k and cases still too high. However, if people follow the rules then things could look a lot better by Easter. Let’s see what Boris can share on the 22nd about a route map through this.

Fancy a sportsmans bet that other than schools we wont learn anything about the route map out?
In the mean time we’ll be good children without actually knowing how to get off the naughty step? Im not having a go by the way, just venting

I think Boris will be clearer on whether schools will open on March 8. Beyond that I’m not too confident either. He might just specify the order in which restrictions will be eased without getting a timetable.

Obviously social distancing, hand sanitizer use and mask wearing in supermarkets will be with us for many months.
