Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

From what I understood from those engagement meetings which took place about the North Stand expansion, the plan at that time was that it would be an expanded 2nd tier and would look something like the ends in the image below - but with a roof! ;)

I’m not sure if that changed before the plans were put on hold again. I’m sure @worsleyweb mentioned seeing plans for a completely new single tiered stand but I may be remembering incorrectly.

Don't think there have been plans for a single tier, from memory the plans approved were for both ends to be the same, Though there was chat about making the 2 upper tiers into a single large tier, and the bottom tier safe standing. Not sure where we are now.

The plans shown to fans were of an expanded 2nd tier and it was also an expanded 2nd tier in the fan survey.

If they started right now it would be finished for mid 2022. I’m hoping fans are back way before then!

Can they do that? I mean start right now. Surely it would take a few days to get the workforce on site, and the machinery and equipment. Next Monday at the earliest -)

Thank god they never built that, the new kippax stand was shite(although it was great working on its construction as a young blue) and to continue with that all the way round would have been madness, we would never have been where we are now with that, no chance sheikh mansoor would have bought us with that ground

That picture looks dreadful. Leaving the running track and two unusable high uncovered stands, is the sort of monstrosity that Seb Coe and the athletics community would have wanted.

Thank goodness the club took the view that a lower tier could be added by binning the track.

Read what he said
“the plan at that time was that it would be an expanded 2nd tier and would look something like the ends in the image below - but with a roof”
He’s not saying that there was ever a running track that had gone when the stadium was finished off post the games

Has anyone any idea of how flexible the new arena will be, in terms of which type of events will be held there.
Concerts, sporting events ok, what else might it be able to attract.
Flexibility and floorspace ?

Not a lot of detail but:-

The proposed venue will be incredibly flexible, offering a range of different configurations to host music, sporting, family and other entertainment events. The building has been designed to offer the largest possible capacity in each configuration whilst at the same time ensuring that the venue is intimate and each seat is close to the stage or the action.

That’s the ANZ Stadium in Sydney. Used mainly for rugby league now, and they also built down and got rid of the bits behind the sticks:

Thanks.
Aa you say not a great of detail. A few rag mates are convinced it will be a white Elephant. Flexibility will be the key. Great Acoustics will also be critical , as MEN is not fit for purpose in that respect.
