Just like I predicted :) Sometimes I shock myself with my own foresight. :P"Fernandinho has offer to become Guardiola's assistant at Man City, claims Atletico Mineiro's Rodrigo Caetano

The club’s director Rodrigo Caetano has confirmed his interest in Fernandinho, but claimed that City have offered him a coaching role.
“There is a lot of speculation because he is coming to the end of his contract,” Caetano told O Tempo . “He is a reference point at City - not only on the pitch, but a lot off the pitch too.
“I don't know if you know, but there is even an offer for him to join Pep as an assistant.
“He is very interesting to us, because he is very good on the pitch and excellent off it as well.
“But there are no negotiations at the moment with Fernandinho or his agents."

Think we might have a future assistant manager here. Good as Rodri has been recently, I'd like to see Fernandinho start against Liverpool.
And me.Just like I predicted :) Sometimes I shock myself with my own foresight. :P
What with that and your modesty....Just like I predicted :) Sometimes I shock myself with my own foresight. :P
Really? I thought it was a logical progression, and not at all unpredictable.Just like I predicted :) Sometimes I shock myself with my own foresight. :P
I suppose, as we've seen this season, he is perfectly capable of coming in from the cold and doing a job (obviously can cover CB too) so it makes sense. If it's true that he's looking to become an assistant, then i'd say a player coach role being offered would be perfect. Foden was talking about how amazing he is in the dressing room already, so it sounds like a natural fit to me.Surprisingly, I've heard he's going to be offered a 12 month extension to his playing contract, and that it's likely to be accepted. Seems odd to me, given the need to free up slots in the squad and space on the wage bill for incoming signings.
Maybe the funds are needed elsewhere? If he is to take up a coaching role it makes sense to keep him for an additional year to transition roles IMO. We need characters like Fern around the club. Hopefully Zaba, Komps make a return when the time is right.Surprisingly, I've heard he's going to be offered a 12 month extension to his playing contract, and that it's likely to be accepted. Excellent news if true. He is still one of the best defensive midfielders around and an excellent motivator and role model for our youngsters. As for an earlier comment about him applying for UK citizenship, didn't Yaya Tour do that before going to China and now Ukraine?Surprisingly, I've heard he's going to be offered a 12 month extension to his playing contract, and that it's likely to be accepted. Considering what Foden recently said about him, the club probably thinks he's still a big voice in the dressing room which is invaluable with this young team
But even how Foden mentioned that he arranged a meeting with the team when was struggling earlier on the season for a talk about how they need to turn it aroundThough he is a millennial, he's in that older mould of player - tough, uncompromising, puts everything on the line to win, always leads by example. Naturally young guys are going to be impressed by it.
We lost a lot of that with Vinny. Although Ruben is showing promising signs, Fern is one of the few in the squad with those characteristics.
