What part of Scotland? My daughter and family live in Glasgow G12 area near the Botanical Gardens, they've been in the highest risk area all through this can't understand why, the only contact they have with other people is when they go to the shop, but they have their main shop delivered
Borders, Glasgow and Lanarkshire have stayed at a releatively high level since the Autumn and been a bit stubborn compared to the rest of Scotland, Does seem to be starting to shift now though, so hopefully will head down.

537 000 vaccinations yesterday and there is going to be a big ramp up in March. Cases will be very low by then and pressure to really open up will be ramping up to the extent people will start breaking rules more.

After musing about how sore someone's arm was after 537 vaccinations yesterday I got even more worried about where they were putting a ramp up next month. New ways of dealing with this pandemic are getting very free thinking.

But seriously I think they have factored in this probable consequence and hope it will matter less once the vulnerable have had both doses. Cases matter less when they are not proving as deadly or swamping the NHS.

That's really the end game of this virus not eliminating it entirely. Living with it in a good approximation of the old normal.

The Covid daily cases score in winter will be a bit like the hay fever numbers in Summer - there but only really being taken in if they matter to you on balance of risk.

Quite a bit higher actually :)

504,493 first shots

32,773 second shots

Definitely a concern about vaccine take-up. Case creep as much an issue in very non-diverse Corby/Rutland/Kesteven areas.
Corby has been one of the worst areas in the country, it’s not helped by local firms bussing in workers from London and other areas and putting them up in hotels, Iforce distribution for example are bringing nearly 200 workers weekly. . The local council are aware of this but are unable to stop it. They have taken it up with our MP but as yet nothing is happening to stop it.

Thanks, that makes sense. Quite a few distribution centres along the A14 corridor into Northants and Warwickshire, where cases also high. Easily forgotten how many folk still have to go to offices or warehouses to do the jobs the rest of us rely on.

Everywhere with healthy falls in both measures.

at this rate the under 50s could be getting jabs in march..its been a bloody fantastic effort
Vaccination rollout is unbelievably good but 2nd doses are looming and the 50’s to 60’s age group is a large group. I’m 55 and it still says April 14th for me

All over 50s eligible in Salford now and my wife, also 55, is booked in on Monday. All over 50s nationally who wants one will be done before the end of March. Areas that are steaming ahead like Salford will be well into the 40-49 group before second shots really kick in. March is going to be a big month for numbers and I can see 16 million plus shots being delivered.

By April we should be getting more Pfizer, the first supplies of Moderna and possibly even the Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine too. I'm very bullish on this but the two things the government have got absolutely right now are the test and trace set up and the vaccination roll out. People can criticise many aspects of policy during the course of the pandemic but right now we are doing all the right things and we will be on the other side by summer.

GM scoreboard:

516 - down from 633 - 44.7% of the NW total of 1155 - down 210 . Falls from 46.4% yesterday.

Wk to wk: 1365 v 1038 v 968 v 807 v 578 v 516 today

Manchester 77 - down from 100. Pop score up 14 to 9007. Manchester enters the 9000 club with its lowest score in 5 months. Weekly cases 790 Weekly Pop down 7 to 143.

Wigan 73 - down from 87. Pop score up 22 to 8291. Weekly cases 513. Weekly Pop down 1 to 156

Rochdale 63 - up from 50. Pop score up 29 to 8910. Weekly cases 391. Weekly Pop up 8 to 166.

Bolton 60 - down from 84. Pop score up 20 to 8428. Weekly cases 569. Weekly Pop down 8 to 197.

Bury 49 - up from 46. Pop score up 25 to 8552. Weekly cases 379. Weekly Pop up 7 to 198.

Stockport 48 - down from 65. Pop score up 16 to 6656. Weekly cases 523. Weekly Pop down 6 to 178.

Tameside 45 - same. Pop score up 20 yo 7481. Weekly cases 388. Weekly Pop up 3 to 172.

Salford 40 - down from 58. Pop score up 16 to 8393. Weekly cases 396. Weekly Pop down 6 to 153.

Trafford 31 - down from 36. Pop score up 14 to 6581 - taking a 75 lead on Stockport for best Pop across the pandemic inside a week. Weekly cases 266 - lowest in GM here too. Weekly Pop down 4 to 113. Another best in GM for the town with all the aces right now.

Oldham 30 - down from 62. Pop score up 12 to 9104. But Trafford not having at all it own way today as Oldham just bear it to lowest case number and also had the lowest Pop score rise today. Weekly cases 334. Weekly Pop 3 to 141.

Weekly Pop - Borough / Today / Last Saturday / Up/down by Lowest score is best - going down good/up bad

I add the Pop score across the entire pandemic too at the end per 100. This is essentially the percentage of the population in the borough who have tested positive and been recorded. So the minimum immunity acquired that way - if indeed any lasts up to a year by that route. Unrecorded cases, asymptomatic and, of course, vaccinated immunity are all on top of this base number locally.

Bury 198/ 215 / down 17 Testing positive 8.6%

Bolton 197 / 210 / down 13 Testing positive 8.4%

Stockport 178 / 162 / UP 16 Testing positive 6.7%

Rochdale 176 / 169 / UP 7 Testing positive 8.9%

Tameside 172 / 196 / down 24 Testing positive 7.5%

Wigan 156 / 170 / down 14 Testing positive 8.3%

Salford 153 / 190 / down 37 Testing positive 8.4%

Manchester 143 / 182 / down 39 Testing positive 9.0%

Oldham 141 / 162 / down 21 Testing positive 9.1%

Trafford 113 / 127 / down 14 Testing positive 6.6%

As you can see everyone back below 200 as Bury and Bolton have had a good few days. Stockport had a better day and fell but its week to week numbers are still up and Rochdale joined them in going the wrong way though both can get out of this if the current trend carries on for a few days. Manchester is having a fantastic few weeks and is at pop score numbers not seen in a long time after a big fall in cases lately. Oldham has had good low numbers this week too and Trafford is still falling after weeks of doing so and may yet dip below 100 in coming week.

How do we find out how if we’re eligible for the vaccine or not? I’m 50 and in Gorton but not heard anything so far. Will I just get a text off my GP surgery?
I’m not overly bothered if I don’t get it right now - it’s only a few weeks since I had Covid - but don’t want to miss out completely.

Try to find your local NHS site and not the national one. I noticed on Thursday that the Salford one said 60+ on the main page but I inputted my wife's details and on the second page it said 50+ were eligible so we booked her in. She got her invitation letter today but another poster tried it and booked himself and his wife in next week and they haven't had a text or letter yet.

Ok, cheers. I’ll have a look. I assumed that they contact us when we’re eligible but it sounds like we may have to do a bit of leg work ourselves. I’ve no issue with that and will get on it.

Thanks, for that, I posted in the vaccine thread asking similar, on the main NHS site it says 64+, I'll check locally, I'm 61, so maybe they are moving slower round here, Northwich.

Just up on the Telegraph.

Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine about to be submitted for MHRA approval. Based on Pfizer & AZ that takes around two weeks. 30 million doses ordered.

Had a look on Tameside NHS site doesn't seem to list any criteria or even mention the vaccination programme. Guess some areas are a lot more proactive than others
