Wow so much negativity here. I felt there's was enough in his game even today to see that he'll be great coming seasons.
Is it negativity? Or is it simply an honest assessment of his performance? I don't see any negativity. Seems if you're not gushing with praise constantly you're labelled as negative and wanting the guy out of the club.

He was shit today, totally ineffective going forward and didn't even at least nullify their threat from that side. He looked lost far beyond what any other first team signing under Pep has done when he first came in, he improved and did admirably if not great in an unfamiliar position when given a chance then since injuries has eased, hasn't had much of a look in but when he has, he's been anonymous. None of that is negative just an overview of his season.

I don't think he's looked more lost than Bernardo, Sane, Cancelo in their first seasons. Just my opinion.
I also don't have any issues with people calling him shit if they think so.
But when someone says let's sell him after a handful of appearances in his preferred position, I don't know what's that if not negativity.

There is a difference between making an honest assessment of his performance on this game, and people then extrapolating that he isn't good enough for us based on this game.

I rarely see the people simply talking about the performance about one game get hate, its when they look at one game and then say "I don't see it, not good enough for us", we can agree that surely these are poor takes?

Everybody was calling Cancelo a waste of space and £60m last season (I was certainly guilty of this at times too).

He now has a shout at being the best performing fullback in the world at the moment.

Give players time, particularly one that's only 20 years old and doesn't have the luxury of consistent game time amongst a squad jam packed full of talent.

It takes a while for players to get used to the setup here. Even then, it was only a few months ago everyone was lauding Torres as the bargain of the season.

Give him time, he’ll tear Premier League defences apart.

He’s in a difficult position I think, like a few of our signings under Pep. They come in with a good reputation at their last club where they were firing in goals, assists, dribbles, and generally having a freedom to play their natural game.

They show a spark of that when they first join us. Then they have to learn our system. Positioning, when to press, simple passes. No freedom to play their natural game, so the spark fades a bit

Happened with quite a few, and it took them different amounts of time to get there but they are nearly all there (Cancelo, Rodri, Leroy, Bernardo etc). Still happening with Jesus I think? He’s not yet showing the brilliance from his time in Brazil, but he’ll get there and so will Ferran

I don't think playing him in a front line with a rusty Sergio and Mahrez (who did well but is not a presser like Jesus or Bernado) backed by a KdB finding his way back to fitness did him any favours.

I think everyone wants him to succeed but his performance was very pedestrian. The way in which reserve team football has been replaced by the EDS league has not done any favours for players like Ferran (and Aguero). In older times both could have played for the reserves to regain fitness. In theory they could play for the EDS but it would never happen.

He needs a run of games before anything, has a lot that fits our needs. Linkup can only improve with more understanding. He'll be fine.

I am convinced that doubters will, once again, be eating humble pie over the next years.
Given his time at the club and his limited appearances, he has done quite well. He hasn't set the world alight but he's 20 and has been rated as one of Spain's best young players since he was 17. If you think we only bought him because he was cheap, you know nothing of his career to date.
Let's be clear: patience and support should greet all young players who arrive at our club.

I wasn't surprised to see him struggle a bit yesterday. So many changes, a front three that hadn't played together before and De Bruyne coming back from injury.

He is clearly a talented player with a huge potential. It is always difficult for a young player to come in when there are so many changes. His goals this season are impressive numbers when factoring in his age, change of league and position and the pandemic.

Needs time. Plenty were poor yesterday but enough were on the money for us still to win. Fresh legs for the next game.

Exactly, a lot, (myself included) were slagging off Rodri & Cancelo, Stones looked on his way out and Zinchenko was in trouble. Look at them now with a full season and a half of coaching into the new system.

Maybe why hes not performing right now?

Marca have provided an insight into the struggles faced by Ferran Torres during the winter period, after the 21-year-old battled with Coronavirus. The article states that after his 'extraordinary' start to life in England, the winger tested positive for the disease and 'lost three kilos' in weight in what was a 'bad time' for the former Valencia man.

No he's just not good enough as " experts " on BM have already sussed out. Another fucking flop signed by the club.

I wanted to share some details about Ferran Torres i did notice.

1-He has the potential to be a better winger than Mahrez and Sterling. He has the power Mahrez does'nt have and he his more letal than Sterling. He can take full backs easily especially when he plays on the left.

2- He can play center forward easily too cause he's very letal . When you look at his game with Spain against Germany you can notice that(he scored 3 goals that day). Pep tried HIM at the same position too and i was very impressed.

3-He's technically gifted, more than Sterling but he has less pace(he still have some though).

4- He's a team player and that's maybe his best quality. He loves to combine and he is not bad at pressing.

5- He is still learning all the systems and we will see the real him next year.
