The Conservative Party

Watched Martin Lewis on ITV last night.

At the risk of repeating myself...

Fuck you Rishi.

Just put the final signature on the death warrant of thousands of small businesses.

Brexit signed the final signature on the death warrant of thousands of large businesses ..... but thats for a different thread.

What on earth are the Tories doing / thinking?

Isn't life strange?
In the Thatcher years the Government used the balancing the household budget to explain Government finances. Absolute nonsense of course but never challenged by the media ( written or broadcast). And it became the economic narrative of the times.
In the Osborne years of austerity and balancing the books household finance economics were again brought out of the cupboard as justification for the Government actions. Again a narrative was formed and Labour were panned for any proposed spending actions particularly in the 2015 election campaign. The media remained silent.
But now it appears it's ok for the Government to borrow and spend as much as it likes particularly as 25% of the national debt is owed to itself and the media ( even the BBC) are surprisingly falling over themselves to explain how the household finance analogy doesn't apply because the Government can print money ( whereas you or I can't). Who'd have thought it!!
And yet surprisingly these same media channels never uttered a word of dissent in the Thatcher/Osborne days.
As the Moody Blues said- Isn't life strange.

Rishi has told councils to hike council tax by 5%
Fucking disgusting considering the lack of public service in the past year.
I begrudge paying my well earned money to the useless twats from Trafford Council.

Whatever happened to "mortgaging our children's future?"

it’s stuff like this that surely will make voters wake up to what is being done to them. Surely?
well, most of them wont know about this, the msm have a black-out on such things, even such blatant "stitch-ups", which are so common from this govnt. Almost seems to be a deliberate attempt to see how far they can take the piss out of the public.....

Agreed. General consensus after yesterdays event is that all he did really was dot the I's and crossed the T's and put the last full stop at the end.

I keep saying it but at every turn they seem to be doing their utmost to piss off "natural" Tory voters. I think they think that they don't need Richmond or Bournemouth West and are taking a dangerous gamble that enough new Blue Wall seats will keep them in office.

Has any government ever wasted as much money as this one has on track and trace?

With £37bn they could have paid three quarters of a million people £25k a year for 2 years. They could have paid 1000 consultants £1000 a day for 160 years. They could have developed a top end app costing £1m 37,000 times.

How the fuck are they spending £37bn over two years for something that doesn’t fucking work?

Why are 43% of the population still supporting these fucking criminals?

I found this really fucking sad. Yes I’m posting a tweet so shoot me. Watch it to the end.

Fucking Hell.

The area doesn't look to poor either, it looks like an ordinary suburban area of any normal city or town.

I know COVID had added to many families problems, still that though is shocking.

I have thoughts on the charitable sector, its not for this thread though, this is firmly at the feet of the Government, austerity and its abandonment of anything approaching a decent social welfare safety net.

But there are many on here are convinced that our Government are generous with welfare payments and that this is all unnecessary.
