United (H) Post Match Thread

We can go on all day long about Foden and Bernardo starting but that starting 11 was better than theirs no matter what the difference of opinions are.

The problem was chasing the game after a complete brainstorm from Jesus.

We had lots of chances, more than them but simply either didn't take them or it was a case of too many players collectively having an off day. We were due a defeat at some point and the 11 point cushion is still there. I don't know what Pep was thinking personally with some of his decisions but it's all hindsight.

I expect a reaction on Wednesday night to gauge if this was a "one off" or not.
I think Citys problem is that they don't regard this match with half as much importance as Salford do. If it was so then Foden and Bernardo would of played, but we have far bigger games this season coming up, it was just a game the management wanted out of the way and over.

I doubt very much that the management wanted the unbeaten record out of the way and over, especially to them lot across the road.

Only just lifted my head after Sunday. Gutted. But on another day we play the same a get something from the match. But I have lost faith in Raheem. He needs to do something profound this season now. Sad.

So I’ve allowed myself a couple of days for the major frustrations of Sunday to ease before posting to ensure I keep some perspective yet it’s still difficult to completely figure out whether it was just one of those days that we can forget about or whether we have a tricky period ahead.

It certainly looked obvious from the outset that we looked more lethargic than in recent games, our pressure on the ball lacked intent and energy. Combined with some obvious poor performances from players that have been so consistent you hope it was just an off night. We still created sufficient chances to get something from the game but Sterling and Jesus lacked that killer finish.

Hugely disappointing but I expect a real reaction tomorrow night.

Possibly the most irritating thing about what was essentially a meaningless derby defeat is the end-of-the-world nonsense talked by City fans who clearly know nothing about the game. We dominated the game, missed chance after chance and they got two essentially lucky goals without ever getting on top.
To be entirely fair they should have scored twice more, both easy chances . How is it 'lucky' when you are gifted a penalty and then allow a fat slug to amble through your entire right side.

Got a feeling that we’ll play these again at Wembley in the FA Cup semi final (no disrespect to Everton or Leicester).

We’ll have a chance to put things right.

More likely a final. It's been long overdue. Let's hear you all talking about Pep "overthinking" big games after that...

You’re not having it are you? He fucked up the starting line up and we lost. Nobody will give a shit or remember this thread when the trophies are being handed out. Chill out David :)

Though it pains me to say it. It was worth losing (not necessarily to that lot) because I believe that unbeaten record was becoming a millstone around our neck. I hope now that it's gone we will return to more free flowing, enterprising football and pick up again. I am very concious of how many points we were behind that short of shit back on 2012.

The only thing I'm not having is simplistic fan opinions. I'm totally chilled. I keep telling people how little this game actually mattered.

Does anyone know how many penalties Martial as had or "gained" for uShited?

It's well documented about Sterling's tally but I can't find a list with who is close to him.
Ud imagine a raggy player must be up there on the list
