What are peoples thoughts on runs leading up to a race? Not particularly a 10k as i wouldnt normally worry about how much i do before a 10k, but for say a half marathon, at what point do you just allow your legs to rest prior to a race?
Reason i ask is a few years ago i did chester half marathan. I was expecting to run sub 1:50 and had trained for it and that was a comfortable time. On the day it was like carrying lead weights in my legs and i dragged myself round in just under 2 hours. Only thing i could think of was i did a 16k run the week before on the weds and the race was on a sunday.
