It's Quiet Thread 15 - Txiki Blinders

Does anyone really believe that we will go into next season with Jesus being the only striker? I mean, seriously? It’s not “not what we want to hear”, as someone said above. It’s simply so stupid that unless we are all collectively sniffing cocaine, it can’t be believed
How else are we all supposed to get through lockdown?

Seems reasonable imo. Mendy is supposedly good for morale around the dressing room so you can see why he’d stay
Yeah, it seems more likely he’ll stay, I just don’t see who would come in for him.

Our defence is going to be nigh on perfect. Mendes and Zinchenko offering two different options at LB, Cancelo and Walker offering similar versatility at RB, and then Stones, Dias, Laporte and Ake at CB. As far as ‘two for every position’ goes, that’s about as good as it gets, anywhere in world football.

As U21 player, yes. Unfortunately he turns 19 in June, it means he wouldn't qualify as a club-trained/homegrown player after turning 21. Correct me if I'm wrong

I think you’re right, but still for the next couple years he wouldn’t have to be registered so that’s not bad
He'd have to go on the senior list as a foreign player in the Champions League, as you have to be at at club for a minimum of 2 seasons to go on the B (u21) list.

It's unlikely I'd agree, and don't think we will, but as it's how we have gone through this season, with some success then it isn't entirely stupid or unbelievable. It's also something that would work with Messi. As I say I can't see it but I also wouldn't be as dismissive as you are.

Yes, we could fit him in without loaning out Mendy The Mascot, who's contracted until 2023. Adds more depth at LB position
I was checking for Mendy’s contract expiry date earlier. Why is it seemingly only City’s website that says 6 year deal? Literally Sky, BBC, Telegraph, every other source I was looking at says 5 years. It’s really weird.

He was top notch. Easily good enough for us even at 18.
Azerbaijan though. Saturday Portugal are away to Serbia, 16th May Sporting are away to Benfica, hopefully he's playing in those games and we get a look at him defensively against more dangerous sides.

Possibly a 5 year deal with an option of a year extension, possibly just the media being shite. Transfermarkt say 2023 making it 6 years and I'd go with the latter (media being shite).

Officially you can only sign a 5 year deal in England. Anything longer is a 5 year deal with a clause that extends it at some point, either at the end or after the first year.

Wasn't aware of that, cheers. Seems a bit of a silly rule.

The question now is, did we extend it after the first year? If not, we're not going to take the option of extending it after the fifth year which means his contract expires at the end of next season.

I am a little troubled and puzzled as to how anyone can really believe that Pep would approach Txiki and tell him “we don’t need to give Aguero a new contract and by the way, also no need for a new striker! We are a football club with the ambition of winning every trophy we play, but I can do this with only one striker on my squad, one who isn’t particularly clinical, because I have fallen in love with an improvisation in the form of false 9, which my own history proves can become quickly predictable and exposed. I’ll take this gamble, Txiki! Just trust me!” This would be extremely creepy and cult-ish. We are not a Cult lol. We wouldn’t let hundreds of millions of investments in the squad go down the drain because of an order by the dear leader. The fact people can consider this possibility for even a second is so bizarre to me
The transfer forum is akin to the match day thread

It could be a mandatory thing to get around the rule, rather than a unilateral extension, given that the club announced it as a 6 year deal. It'll be automatically extended in that case.

@Rascal, I wouldn't bother in future mate, this haaland thread has gone all cultish, you cant say he isn't coming, and god forbid if haaland doesn't give you a hardon,
I’m sure most rational people on here understand that there is a chance it isn’t happening. However, there have been many reports from many sources indicating we are in for Haaland so anything contradictory is going to seem odd.

How do you spell PRIMARY?

Mate it is literally in the tweet you've quoted. And you've even spelt it right in your question. Not sure what game you're playing here but it'll take more than a stupid spelling test to get yourself as the new host of the 93:20 quiz. Your question isn't even multiple choice

Yeah that sounds more likely in which case he still has two more seasons left after this one. It'll be interesting to see how we deal with it going forward, I'm guessing it'll be a loan with us paying at least half of his wages. Such a shame it hasn't worked out for him here mainly due to injuries. I was so excited when we signed him and for those first couple of months before he got injured I thought we finally had a world class attacking left-back.
