One thing I have come to learn over the years is that I trust Kaldoon and he seems to be a man of integrity.

I am sure he won't be putting us in a position where we have nailed our colours to the mast, interesting that it was Martin Samuel who broke this with his history of openness around City as a club.

One other thing is really pissing me off, why is it that when Sky are using their banner regarding this breakaway league they are using our shirt on the graphics when it hasn't even been confirmed we are part of it.
He says what the fans want hear at the end of each season. I doubt he would lose a wink of sleep over the anger this has caused City fans.

Of course not. They only bought City to make it world class sports brand only to promote Abu Dhabi.

So big games like this... what a better way to promote Abu Dhabi? Of course Soriano is getting his cock hard.

if that let paragraph needs answering.....

And as a result, we should have our entire honours scrubbed from history, that's my question?

It's just hyperbole.

Football is already a closed shop, as others have stated, Uefa suddenly coming over all morally offended is just laughable.

They were complicit with AC Milan and other clubs to introduce FFP, ensuring a closed shop, barring the occasionally romantic anomoly.

Prior to 2007 we would not have been a part of the conversation, but now we are, they pulled the drawbridge up not long after.

The Premier League has a multitude of clubs who are happy to just exist and take the guaranteed £100m pot each year, without any real ambition beyond that.

Vested interests across the board.

What’s laughable is that you a so called football fan doesn’t even now what the current premier league table looks like.

I was being tongue-in-cheek. The point I am making is that digital technology means clubs like LFC and MUFC will be able to control their own broadcasting and sell digital season tickets to their followers across the world. Each match would be like pay-per-view boxing on a bigger scale.
United could probably get a digital attendance for their matches into the millions instead of just 75,000 in the stadium. The broadcasters like SKY and BT would be cut out of the loop. The technology for this already exists.
If and when this happens then local fans will be even less important than they are now but, as we have seen with Covid, televised events are nothing without crowds. The gate money will be peanuts to these greedy clubs compared to their other revenues.
I am not saying I am happy with all this happening but I think this is the direction football is going in. These superclubs want to keep ALL the broadcast money for themselves giving nothing to BT, SKY, Bein, etc and nothing to UEFA/Fifa.
Sadly you are right

I don’t there will be a compromise
Not reading the reactions across all bodies...it’s serious.

Compromises were to placate the cartel. The cartel have just said “fuck you”

American owners only understand a big loaded gun pointing at their heads Where the chance of the trigger being pulled is real (see UEFA’s legal stance already)

We often do, but I’ve been to plenty of City matches in the US (and in Manchester) and I don’t ever recall that . . .
I can't for the life of me remember who it was against but it definitely happened, I stayed up into the early hours to watch it, the game was atrocious and the most memorable thing to happen was the stadium announcer. If you got a comedian to parody football in America it was exactly what went on that game.

The PL are hypocritical wankers - this is the same governing body that created the divide between rich and poor and helped establish the cartel domestically

Sky are shitting bricks because it is probably understood that the independent clubs threatening this action would create their own subscribing TV base to broadcast their games around the world

I think that was made clear in the proposal on page 1 of this thread, clubs would be able to broadcast a number of their games on their own media platforms.

The selfishness of this is totally mind bending! it will destroy local, national, and international football - the clubs joining will be hated, and how many fans can fly to all away matches?
The owners care about the fans? yeah course they do!
I hear Germany and French leagues have sacked this idea off! how can it be a super league? without PSG and Bayern?
Love City - hate this new world.

So there you go, nobody is boycotting the coverage.

There is a lot of emotion out there but the reality is that football is already a closed shop.

Leicester might be an anomoly, City might be a rags to riches tale, but the truth is Leicester was a freak and City are too big now to be ignored.

Leicester winning the league was akin to me giving a begger £20 in the street and me suddenly feeling like I've done my bit for homelessness.

The elite will let it have its anomoly, but that's just to finesse the truth that the closed shop has always existed.
You are glossing over the fact that most fans of most clubs know they will never win the Premier league, or be in the chumps league.... but it is the ILLUSION that it COULD happen that makes the competitive nature of the leagues so compelling.
That's why promotion chasing Brentford can dream of the premier promised land whilst playing former 2 time European champions Notts Forest.
Remove that and it's all just pointless.
