It's a breakaway from the Champions League. The plans have been published - Super League games played midweek, while the clubs play the domestic games on the weekend still.

That is their plan. If they can't play domestic games on the weekend because the Premier League/FA/UEFA win the battle of brinksmanship over throwing people out, the super league won't happen.

It's all about the money and the money the PL earns now from TV just won't be there. TV companies love the PL because of the competition, but that will surely be reduced because what will they be paying for if the European places are already decided?
So if that happens the financial disparity between those club in and out will be so much bigger than it aleady is.
 
Maybe this is all a smokescreen to create fear with the broadcasters to stump up more money. Sly sports will be on its knees sucking up to the red scum from Trafford and the merkyside begging them to stay.
 
I hope the rags are the only ones who make a statement in support and the others bottle it.

But no one above the age of 12 actually thinks the Premier League is going to expel the top 6 do they? Conversely no one thinks the top 6 will go ahead with it if the threats are carried through, do they?

These are just threats and posturing.

The super league is going to run alongside league football and replace the CL, or it's not going to happen.

But there is no relegation or promotion into it. At the moment there is summat in place to go for in the top 4 and europa league. All that will happen is the teams in this comp will be so rich the top 4 is the choice if 6 and no one will bother putting money into clubs like villa Everton hammers etc as nothing to gain out of it and they will all just fade away

Putting aside the expulsion threats, it would just kill the competition in the league. Leicester could do a repeat of 2016, but because they're not one of the six, they would not be able to compete in the Super League, which would be the top European competition. No meritocracy at all. Plus what would City, or the other big six prioritise if it were to happen? Obviously the super league, as normal league position would have no bearing on competing in the new super league, no point in challenging for the top 4, we'll be in it anyway. I imagine it would feel pretty insulting for a West Ham fan, seeing City put out a B team, because of a midweek game against Real Madrid, in a competition he will never see his side compete in. So even if expulsion is an empty threat, its still a terrible idea that would destroy football in this country.

You mean it’s an obvious way to identify the rags/Scousers amongst us.
