I do wonder whether the clubs involved anticipated this level of backlash. And if so, what is their gameplan from here on out? Hope it'll all blow over or is there something else to come out of this (for better or worse)?

Six clubs in PL automatically qualify for europe, even if one finishes say 10th? and three or more clubs finish above them and dont qualify for europe. This will make a complete mockery of the PL as a competition. Why would you bother playing your best players in the PL if you have already qualofied, just play a weakened side and rest players for the European games?? Surely this cant be right, I must be having a bad dream. To say im gutted is an understatement. total joke.

I guess they would be competing for places in the existing Champions League, though of course that will be majorly devalued.

I have no doubt that we will come out of it all ok and when it all kicks off, the majority of us will still be watching and arguing on here about how poor X player is performing etc etc.

It’s the other clubs that won’t be ok. What are they playing for exactly? They will have a fraction of the money of the 6 clubs involved, so unlikely to ever seriously challenge for titles. Those like Leicester and this year West Ham, are fighting tooth and nail to finish top 4, to play in the CL - no point in them doing that in the future because Arsenal, who have just finished below them, are founder members and ring-fenced in the new competition.

The clubs involved have decided that 100+ years of domestic competition is something worth selling for the right price.

Think they will have more chance of winning the league because managers will be resting there too players also those other clubs will be able qualify for the champs league. Anyway we have to see how it all develops in the next few months!
