Already disillusioned with football with the constant cheating/play acting of players, how its become a non-contact sport, VAR and the ridiculous wages and money involved and I think this is the final straw. I've saved a lot of money and time travelling etc over the last 12 months and if this is the way forward then I am more happy to continue not going to matches

They have been pushing fans to their limits for the past decade now, I think this is the final straw.

How? I don't understand how us deciding to play in another competition is stealing the club from us
Football is being stolen, not just the club!

You think seat prices will drop?
You think investment in the lower leagues will increase?
Do you think the lower leagues will even survive?
You think this league, if successful will not expand to a worldwide league?
Do you not think that if there is money to be made teams will be voted out to accommodate a bigger cash cow team?
Do you not think The 3 unnamed teams are ones that are, right now, trying to find ways out of their binding predicaments to their own leagues?
Do you think that the 5 'cherry picked' teams will ever have a say in the running of that league?
Do you not think that young players are going to be playing in their domestic leagues just for the chance to move to the super league, which means shorter term contracts and less stability at the domestic clubs?
Do you think transfer fees will favour the domestic clubs?
Do you think the best players will be divi'd up by the 15 clubs in a gentleman's agreement?
Do you not think that the best new players will be acquired by the clubs with the largest (social) media reach?
Do you think that the players, y'know the ones with the talent, will see their pay increase, or the owners will see their dividends increase?
Do you not think that these regulations set up in the new league will filter down to the domestic leagues?
Do you also not think that any future increase in revenue will filter down to the fans or local community?
Once the league is established, and if we are expelled from domestic leagues, do you not think that, suddenly, Birmingham City (or whoever) become part of the CFG?
Oh, and that seat you were going to buy away at Barca, or Milan, is going to have a tourist plastic fan sat in it with a selfie stick, because it will cost a fortune!!
Welcome to the new reality!

I hope all the supporter groups of these clubs come together and make a joint statement, anything to get the majority of fans’ disgust out there. They’re lucky they’ve done this with no fans in the grounds, there’d be uproar. Utter utter shitbags, I don’t even know where to go from here. I don’t want to give up City but it has that feel about it, it really does. Gutted. Absolutely gutted.

Let's face it, City didn't have their arm twisted, they jumped into bed with the very same individuals who have tried to fuck us for years.

I'm absolutely stunned and ashamed my club were party to this, but the fact it's spearheaded by the Glazers and that virulent **** Perez is, without a doubt, evidence that this is simply not my club any more.

There's still time for this all to be negated, I think, but the damage has largely been done.
Yep you've summed it up, this isn't our club anymore.

No way, no way back, damage is well and truly done, the only thing left now is to persevere with it. Any U-turns or changes would be worse for the clubs than sticking with it now.

Yep these clubs have gone all in now and I think they are expecting UEFA FIFA and the teams leagues will eventually agree a deal with them which I think they will. In financial terms the clubs hold all the power

trying to digest everything over the past 12 hours, could bodies such as Premier League, UEFA, FIFA start throwing out CFG owned clubs from their respective leagues? what about City in the WSL? suddenly the CFG masterplan starts to the crumble

I’ve woken up this morning and I thought positively about this for a few minutes. I’ve asked myself a few questions and the first that came to mind was - Could we afford to not be in this? The answer was no. I feel we need to be in this for the future if the club.
Secondly, after UEFA have fucked us over so many times (or tried too) is it any surprise we have decided to leave and join this new league - again the answer is no, not surprising at all. I keep answering questions and they all point in the direction that I’m not surprised by this at all, with the clubs interests at heart it makes sense, and I voted “no” in the poll attached to this thread.

For me, the part that stinks the most, how will Leicester and West Ham be feeling this morning? In the season they have broken the mould and put in class performances to threaten the “top 4” and worked their socks off, and potentially all for nothing - we grew up to be better than this and should have fucked the new idea off. City have changed, it’s not an overnight process but this is the final straw for many, probably myself included

Mate, literlly every singly club who we are getting into bed with on this, WERE the ones pressuring UEFA. They wanted us out.

The club should have made a fucking stand and decided not to join this, I'm disgraced.

I just cant believe any club let alone City are prepared to throw everything away, all the tradition, history, excitement and challenges for a few extra quid. What about the fans, clearly we dont mean anything anymore to the owners.

I dont want to watch a closed shop competion run on the back of a sham domestic league. Wheres the pleasure in that.

I would feel embarrassed watching City play another team outside this cartel, knowing that however badly we play, however much we lose by, we will still qualify for this super league and the other club wont.

If this happens, and im preying it wont, that's the end of it for me as a match going fan im afraid, its just not what im about or into as a person, I feel pretty low at present.

Diego Simeone

When quizzed on the decision Simeone said: "I am the coach and I'm ready to coach where they tell me. I have no doubt they will take the best decision for the future of our club."
Simeone is the highest paid manager in world football by some distance so that's no surprise.

Pep feeding us BS last week saying we we need to build long history in the CL. Utter bollox.
who knows, have the club had a gun put to their head over the weekend stating "your either in the 15 now or you'll never be in"

I'm not as against this as everybody else. I'm not entirely convinced by it but I don't think it's a disgusting outrage either.

Firstly let's get real for a moment. Football has been broken since the 1990s. People talk like we're in the 1960s where all the clubs could have a similar chance of competition. We aren't and we haven't been for decades. A Leicester could happen once but the idea that you can build a sustainable challenger to the league using your academy, good management and transfer guile is farcical. United saw to that many years ago - to compete you need a billionaire to invest in you. That's the broken part, by the way. That you need that to begin with. The English game has been financially lopsided and killed competition 20 years ago.

So the competitive morality out of the way, we look at other things such as what will happen to poor Stoke and Burnley? Nothing, presumably. More to the point, I give as much of a fuck for their future as they did for us when we were going bankrupt. My emotions are tied to Man City and whats best for them.

The Super League is what's best for City. As a founding member, we're now one of the big boys forever. If there's a revolution in the UAE tomorrow and Shiekh Mansour/his family is deposed and he's forced to sell the club then its no problem. We're in the tent pissing out, permanently. The fact that we get to fuck UEFA on the way past is icing on the cake.

My only actual concern here is for the fans. It sounds like potentially 18 European away games to the final and you just know that the Final is more likely to be in Beijing than Birmingham. Affordability is going to be a significant issue and it's the only thing that's making me doubt it. If the club did something like a European equivalent of subsidised coaches then I'd be happier with it.

But yeah. It guarantees our post UAE future, it establishes us as one of the world's biggest clubs, it fucks UEFA, it will be the competition all the biggest players want to play in, it will earn us fucking bank, what's not to like?
I've woken with different thoughts as well
The CL is an invitational tournament (that's what we were told when we were banned from their tournament) so we can refuse to play in it
Now when we're on pre season tour in the far east, raising our profile by playing Wolves and Shanghai Villa, is that a UEFA sanctioned tournament!
So surely we can participate in whatever we want so long as it doesn't interfere with our domestic calendar
