Not sure we're in the position to be calling out any clubs.
You are right.

We will get more shit than the rest.

Fans of neutral Clubs be like "well you know, what do you expect with that shower of self serving shit "......................but City fucking hell !!!.

I've not seen a single person on here say anything positive about it or even try and defend City for their involvement, thought I'd check out redcafe thinking surely even they would be the same, and whilst the majority of it are saying the same as us, there's a surprising amount of people on there actually trying to back it. I imagine rawk have already got 6 threads blaming Everton and Chelsea fans and have photoshopped liverpools name out of the statement.
Their entitlement is staggering and it's their only chance to stay relevant on the european scene (not winning the ESL, the competition is way too hard) with the Glazers and the clown acting as their manager. I love how they keep harping on your club spending a fuckload of money while they spend more or less the same amount, just on shit players.

Nothing coming from the Liverpool fans would surprise me.

Boris saying he's going to do all he can to stop it made me chuckle... If it's anything like the pandemic "advice" we all got then he's going to appear on TV and appeal to these top 6 clubs to:

Don't go in it...
Go in it...
Don't go in it... but if you can not avoid going in it - go in it
Don't go in it for any reason - unless that reason is to go in it, then don't go in it (or do)
Wash your hands before you go in it - but don't go in it

Clear?

In any situation where you’re given a choice to make, you have to look at your alternatives.

What’s clear is this was hatched up without us - and was happening - with us in it or not.

We were offered a choice to be part of the ESL proposal, or to stay with UEFA’s competition in a revised form which is also a compete fucking stitch up.

In that situation, both choices were shite - so it looks like we took the best option.

There was no continuity ‘stay as it is’ option available.

Frankly, I don’t blame the Club for not trusting UEFA as much as I wouldn’t blame them for not trusting the Yanks.

Some on here seem to be reacting as if we have walked out on a mystery option which somehow retained the ‘soul of football’ within it.

That option does not exist.

This was one shit show against another - and we chose the most advantageous option for our Club.

We clearly weren’t the architects of this, but were forced to make a choice between two sides.

I may be being thick here, but I just don’t see this honourable third option you all seem to be lamenting actually existing anywhere in reality.
the honourable 3rd option was to keep the status quo, let the rats fuck off to their new league and fight for a better league to remain in.

I still find it odd that UEFA are giving out because they're not going to be the ones in charge of the closed shop

No doubt the club was put in a hard place - either make a principled stand and refuse to join as a founding partner or leap in now and suffer the wrath of some fans, media and of course UEFA. I understand completely why they chose the second option - It's kind of like what ultimately went wrong with the Common Market - we didn't join originally and by the time we did many of the rules and principles were already set in stone favouring the initial member states. We all know how this ultimately ended ha!

So, if we had declined and perhaps the SL becomes a huge success with certain rules and regs it would be hard to have a voice coming on board as a new partner. I don't necessarily agree with it at all but I suspect that if it happens it will be successful and despite what some say those who were there at the start will have a much better hand and more influence. Plus the financial gains will be huge. We all know how we have been made to feel by UEFA in the recent past - the new rich kids on the block and not worthy of our place - only in it because we have money etc etc. I don't recall at any time them referring to our wonderful past and how this club has meant so much to so many for decades. I don't recall any one saying how our owners have transformed a part of the City that was in decline and have helped put Manchester on the map in some ways.

I don't like that this is driven by FSG and Utd's owners but sometimes it's always best to keep your friends close and your enemies even closer.

Final two thoughts - I think UEFA has been very arrogant for a number of years and will have zero sympathy for them if the CL falls apart by becoming a second rate competition. The way we have been treated in the competition sucks so I for one won't lose any sleep about it. Of course it's still not written in stone that it will happen but if it means we are treated with more respect I'm ok with it.

I also don't buy into some of the reactions today - most will be because they fear change to what has become a gravy train for a group of the most ill talented pundits and commentators there are. The football media should be perhaps thinking of using this to pressure the big 12 or whatever number it is to assist lower league clubs by the PL allowing a second team to be associated with smaller clubs in the area - this would increase fan bases as teams will have a certain number of players like a young Phil Foden to watch before they step into the parent clubs first team. The standards of the game should be raised at every level as should costs - wages, overheads etc paid by the parent club. The sport needs a kick up the arse and some of the old cronies need booting out.
Great post mate.

Because this is the obvious precursor to a closed shop league that replaces the European leagues, mate. City won't be in the Prem much longer if this goes ahead; nor will Barca be in La Liga, etc. And those five "open slots" are auditions for which ever five clubs can bring the most money into the Super League. This will be 20+ sides, 38+ matches (maybe 76), probably a random-draw cup as well, on weekends. And they'll take this on tour to China, the US, Australia, Dubai, etc. of course.

It's rather staggering to me that people don't see this.
Yep,it’s genuinely baffling that some fans don’t see it.

what if this is a HUGE lie to write off a fuck tonne of debt for the worst offenders.
They line their pocket with £300mil for agreeing to play, the league gets blocked by everyone else, but they keep the money because it’s no ones fault it failed. Suddenly everyone’s debt is clear

A man can dream

No relegation or promotion - fuck you
Kicked out of the fa cup - fuck you
Kicked out of the league cup - fuck you
No genuine reason to finish top 4 or 6 - fuck you
No drama of a relegation fight, in a soulless league - fuck you
Our players not allowed to play in a world cup or european championship - fuck you
Games probably played all over the world, remember 39th game and la liga plans - fuck you
Kicked out of the pl - fuck you

If the club go through with this they will be dead to me, as a lifelong blue I feel hurt, dismayed and betrayed.

As for the 64 "happy" about this, you disgust me.

It's all but dead already.

You know when a proposal, which becomes an issue, get's as high as the Prime Minister, it won't happen.

Boris Johnson vows to block European Super League

'I don't like the look of these proposals. We are going to look at everything that we can do to make sure that this doesn't go ahead'

To be honest, even if it doesn't happen I think the damage could be irreparable.

Amen! Some people I work with are suggesting they would just go and choose another club.

I don't think I could just pick a new team, but if a break away club was formed - like FC United was - I'd be on that!

Or, I'd just declare football as dead, and just find a new passion.

Mansour at the time of the takeover...

"... we will absolutely spend time listening to you the fans about what you think about the future of the club. We are very aware that without you there would not be a club to buy, and your voice will be heard by the organisation at the highest level."

"... we will act always in the best interests of the club and all of its stakeholders, but especially you the fans."

Lies.
I'm glad he stuck by that!
