The nipples again?Hard bastards!
The top 6 already have a £200m a year revenue gap to the tier below. Basically 100% step up from 7th to 6th.
The big 6 getting further ahead isnt going to change much.
What choice do they have, practically? A premier league without the big 6 is deadI don't see how any national leagues are going to sanction this.
TEXT FROM Preston North End Football Club
We have noted with disappointment the suggestion that a European Super League be formed as a means of concentrating yet more wealth into the hands of the few.
Those English clubs who feel that such an attempt at a wealth power grab, thereby undermining and potentially destroying the English football pyramid, should look themselves in the mirror.
If one takes the status of these so called big six over a longer time frame than just the formation of the Premier League it would take a wise person to guess at who these so called top six are. Over a sustained historic period, the suggestion that these clubs have been at the forefront of domestic trophy winning or domination doesn’t stand the test of scrutiny.
Performance on the field of play with promotion and relegation and qualification for European competition based on winning football matches is a fundamental part of European football history.
Having just experienced the devastating financial impact of COVID on football finances, English football urgently needs a fairer distribution of monies throughout the Leagues not a money power grab by the self-appointed few. There is already a huge disparity between the finances available to the top 20 clubs rather the rest of the football pyramid and many are in dire financial straits. This breakaway could destroy nearly 150 years of football history for short term riches for the few.
The underlying principle that these breakaway clubs appear to have completely disregarded is that football is most importantly about its supporters. This European Super League plan has totally ignored their voice which is unacceptable.
We are looking to Government, FIFA, UEFA, The FA, The Premier League and the EFL to ensure that this proposal is stopped in its tracks and the future of the English game as a whole is secured.

If we get cheerleaders in tight spangled tops I’m in ;-)Correct.
Once the league migrates to 20 closed clubs playing 57 matches a year against each other, I would also expect extra time and penalty shoot-outs to eliminate draws, as in hockey.
Perhaps 10-15 minutes of "sudden death" extra time (maybe with a reduced number of players on the pitch, which is what hockey does on the ice), followed by penalty shootout to determine a victor. Both teams get a point for a FT draw, but the team "winning" the penalty shootout gets an extra point (2 instead of 3 for a FT victory).
Once again, folks -- all of this is the inevitable direction. It's going to be a very different sport with its own unique rules. Like it or lump it.
Mind you we could have done with that last Saturday.i've read that their could be time outs in each half - so in essence it could be a game of 4 quarters.

The big 6 are all leaving anyhow. The Premier League isn't dead, but it's just acquired terminal cancer. What choice do they have, practically? A premier league without the big 6 is dead
I hope he fucking takes our club to cleaners...like wtf?I hope Pep is receiving some coaching for tomorrow's presser.
True but don't think anyone in their right mind thinks the current version of televised football is better than it was. And a TV audience/money does depend on the idea that its nearly as good as being there. Imagine full blanket of Glastonbury with just handfuls of people dotted about the place, or a derby game with no one there. The only reason its happening now is because there is a pandemic and its literally that or stop the sport entirely. TV viewership is down due to blanket coverage of games. Any novelty value of a Super League would wear off within a couple of years in terms of viewers watching every available game.It might not matter how full the stadiums are. It's the television audience where the money is and it will be flogged to the highest bidder and shown all over the world.
We've had a full season of fake crowd noise already. And fake VAR. Next will be fake holographic fans. (Consumers). Virtual reality. Fake football.
The rags shares rose 8.5% on the NY Stock exchange this morning.
Capitalism is eating football.
And i am a left wing nutjob.
Read? Where? Your usual go to sources of shite?i've read that their could be time outs in each half - so in essence it could be a game of 4 quarters.

I assure you -- among us "legacy fans" in the US it is NOT the same.I took the time to look around oversea forums. The danger is the other continents, especially Asia, don't really give a shit, many of them actually LIKE the SL idea. I guess in the US it's the same. They care more about the big teams than the rest, so there will be plenty of business cases for these bastards.
I’d keep an eye on Bayern.
those German rags are up to something make no mistake
