The one thing I expect is that Khaldoon, Soriano and co. Wouldn't make this decision lightly. They'd do their research, know how unpopular it was (everyone should have known this after the reaction to project restart), try to avoid it if possible, but ultimately come to the conclusion its happening and in the best interests of the club to be on the inside of the breakaway and pull the trigger.

For them to back out 2 days later and say "whoopsie daisy! Maybe we didn't think this through" Would make me question their ability to run the club long term.

Still far better than going ahead with it man, that’s not really an option for most of us. People are saying they’d stop watching the lifelong club!
 
If Uefa came up with this format and said it be coming in in 2024 would they be as much up roar? My thinking would be would it heck! Oh if this superleague goes ahead bt sky will be bidding for it all these on sky would change there tune in a heartbeat!

But as much as we dislike the champions league IT IS NOT a closed shop. This is. This is a way for big clubs who are massively in debt a way to reduce that.

Why we are anywhere near this is absolutely beyond me

Honest question:

When the PL was formed, it made rich people aware of the worldwide attraction. Loads of PL clubs invited foreign owners. The PL became by far the richest and best watched league in the world. Making it even more attractive to oversees billionaires. The fans loved it. Nobody cared who had the power.
Now some of these billionaires see fit a way to make even more money.

Haven’t we as in PL clubs and fans, simply sold our soul to the devil?
Doesn’t it make the emotional reaction from the media and fans somehow fickle?

They've got us all ways. The so called executive committee we're not on so we have no say in anything. We get less revenue so the gap widens. We lose if we stay in and we lose if they kick us out. If we stay in the premier league within five years or less we'll never win the title again as just like the old days the rags and dippers will be able to buy all the best players. The next De Bruyne? What have City offered? £350, 000 a week? Offer him £450,000. Job done. I thought our owners were smarted than to fall for this.

All those things have been happening for years. The PL cut off the rest of the pyramid who spend fortunes and risk ruin trying to clamber aboard. The top 4 cuts off the rest of the PL and clubs spend fortunes (and largely fail) to clamber aboard.
This is just another step along a well established path. This is just a battle about who controls the wealth at the top of the game.

I don't like it but I don't like the Premier League/top 4 Champions League bollocks either.

It's the way of the world I'm afraid.
