Pep bottled it just like Klopp. Understandable but disappointing.
Nonsense. He did more than enough with the limited information at his disposal. Not only called out the lack of meritocracy in these proposals but also the SL club owners for hiding and throwing managers under the bus, while also firing shots at UEFA, the Premier League and the wider football industry for greed and self interest. He went a lot further than anyone could have reasonably expected

Either Pep's got balls big enough to make David Silva shudder or he's been given the freedom to say what he wants here.
tough ti
The longer this goes on I’m believing this is a huge bluff, a game of poker for the red clubs to get what they want from UEFA.
Who blinks first.
yep, seems like a game of high stakes poker ,ESL clubs either leave or get serious reforms from uefa , its all bollocks tbh , i hope uefa and the premier league are strong and tell all the ESL clubs to either conform to rules that are fair to every one or fuck off.

To me it shows that we’re being held ransom with this ESL. We don’t want it as a club, and I want to believe our owner, who has the great CFG global empire and success in other business, don’t need the money the ESL bring. But because the best players and mercenaries will flock to the ESL, and in consequence the supporter and sponsor market, our owners may not want to miss out. Not because of the money, but the global exposure. The owner is more a legacy man than a money man.
I agree with this.

If the managers of the 6 did not know this was coming it’s a fucking disgrace and I fear that this is the case. We are legacy fans they are obviously slightly (only just) more important trinkets to be played with by the owners. This just gets worse.

My take from that was he likes the idea of the super league but not the idea of anticompetitive nature of which it looks to be setup.
If this goes ahead as it is currently setup i see him resigning.

The thing is, the anticompetitive nature of it is bred from the pure fundamentals of it: guaranteed places, harder to get into, no relegation, more games etc.

Strip all of that away and you’re left with what we have: the Champions League which is the most sought-after trophy in club football.

The ESL is purely a way to make sure clubs who are fucked financially have a way to get money back. It’s nonsense.

Both are shit. Sadly there doesn't seem to be an option to go back to what was or create something better. I was hoping we were using the SL to force UEFA into change.
I am hoping for the same too...But more and more looks like the clubs now have enough power as of now to shut the shop permanently and going on with it.

Could have said he was totally against it.That It was a disgrace. Can it be possible that his compatriots have no knowledge of it? I just cant believe thats possible.
Your posts drip with negativity and cynicism regardless of the subject on here so not really a shock to see you taking this stance.

When both options are unacceptable, opt for the least unacceptable
No you have to work to find a better solution. Both options are shit for domestic football with the Glazer/FSG one the worst. Pep's comments were perfect. Someone needs to bang the owners' and UEFA bosses' heads together. Woodward needs to be frozen out of the discussions because he is pure poison and not trusted by anyone.
