Having WhatsApp my friends golf group today, all City or Rags there's not one who will pay to watch on TV and out of 14 of us who go to games not one will pay. I can't see it going ahead.
I'm going to bet that most, if not all, end up doing so. A bit like when everyone said they wouldn't buy Sky and then did. But this isn't aimed at existing fans. This is to generate new money, which means new viewers. These new viewers won't pay to watch a team parking the bus in every game involving a top team. They want to see top teams playing each other every week. Both going toe-to-toe to make thrilling games

We dont all live in UK and oh yes, people in Europe watch a lot of basketball and the name Jordan is 10x more famous than someone called De Bruyne i guess.As a football and City fan i know a lot more footballers than maybe other athletes ,but saying Lebron and Jordan are not world wide stars are bollocks.

Because the other 5 biggest clubs in our league were doing it and we didn't want to miss out. If the 5 top German or French teams were involved, don't think for a second that Bayern or PSG wouldn't have joined them.
Yeah same with Atlético and probably Inter Milan too. There would have been a huge pressure on these two clubs or risk being left in the dust for eternity.

Time Sir Dicky had a word, being a city fan and leader of MCC he should class us as anti- social tenants and threaten eviction unless we behave ;-)

Hello all. Lyon fan here. I have a question, if you may. Why the fuck did your club jump into this giant mess ? I mean, you didn't have any interest to join, and you would be way more comfortable with the like of Bayern and Psg , playing the good guys. You don't have money issues like the debt full Spanish, so what happened ?
I can't offer any firm conclusions at all.

But, based on numerous press articles - both we - and Chelsea were told that the Superleague was 100% going to occur. And it's evident - based on the willing participation of other top clubs that in fact - that the Superleague was going to launch.
===
At gun point - we and Chelsea were offered an ultimatum - join us, or die!
===
Although I'm very much disappointed in our management to capitulate to the evil money-grab so-called Superleague - I can see - easily - why we reluctantly did so.

So Perez says the ESL will help filter more money down the leagues, but conveniently forgets how much cash Utd's owners have taken out of the game £1 billion at last estimates wasn't it, I'm sue the Italian money must go somewhere and in Spain I thought Barca was owned by the fans.

I hope City pull out of this and also refuse to compete in a revised UEFA Champions League which rewards clubs for historical achievement, we don't need this, our owners don't and our players don't...
They do, unfortunately.

Is this going to turn into the most 'Typical City' moment of all time? Just as we are on the brink of a fantastic season, and with some of our main rivals...scum, Real, Barca...struggling under mountains of debt, we throw them the lifeline of signing up to this complete shit-show which looks designed to solve their financial issues, wiping out any advantage we hold over them. At the same time we become national pariahs and anything we do manage to achieve this year will be completely ignored (or even possibly deleted from history if some people have their way). Well done City
Eh? If w don't join, those teams will get hundreds of millions anyway and then dwarf our purchasing power. On day one, any of the top 15 could buy Kdb and Haaland and probably MBappe. We'd in a heart beat drop to a second tier team.

Bloody hell, it's hard keeping up with this thread.
I turn my back and 50 pages are added.
Has Khaldoon come out of hiding yet ?

4D chess incoming people, hold onto your hats and don’t cuss city out just yet.

You can’t destroy shapeless Demons hiding in the shadow, first you have to get them to show themselves and take it from there
The men are in the basement wearing blue orchids with torches lit.

It was code, right?

What tom foolery is this?

We got into bed with them, even a strategic exit has left us tainted for a long time.

We don't come out of this in a good light no matter what goes down in the next few days/weeks

Money. That is why every owner is involved in Premier League football. There are financial returns to be had. am not sure what we have now is much better because UEFA absolutely screwed Manchester City because we threatened Manchester United and Liverpool. It's all economic interest backed up with politics, and sham such as financial fair play which is just a tool to screw a rival club who has less sponsorship revenue than you have.
i don’t think it’s about money but more like “fuck you uefa “ but now city got played big time or city is playing big time and just the start of “sit your ass down uefa and talk “ .

What makes me angry and gutted is that we believed and backed the club through FFP bolloxs and the CAS appeal,getting abuse just for wearing my city shirt and constantly sticking up for my club I've followed for 41 yrs,constant snipes off other glory hunting twats and it takes its toll and now they have shit on us from a great height and said thankyou but get fucked.....heartbreaking.....

I was just about to post the same thing mate. The whole FFP ban really felt like it was 'us' the club and fans v UEFA and pretty much everyone else. I celebrated the CAS verdict like a city goal. Khaldoon spoke pointedly afterwards and Pep was vociferous in defending the club. (He spoke well again today to his credit).

So now, for the club to join up with the same people who were actively conspiring against us only a few months ago... its sickening.

Even if we back out of it, the damage has been done. A journalist likened it to when Liverpool opted out of Furlough. It was the right thing to do but what were they thinking in the first place.

We had a chance to mark ourselves out as different to other top clubs. To stand by the Premier League and defend the English game (when we bought the first FA Cup recently I'm pretty sure the press release referenced how important English football was to the club. Empty words now).

We could have gained back some of the good will from the football community, which has been lost since the takeover. But more importantly it was the right thing to do by the the fans, the same fans who's loyalty kept this club in existence not too long ago. But instead, they chose greed and have alienated large parts of a fan base that have stuck by them through thick and thin. They had an open goal and smashed it over the bar. Maybe typical City isn't dead after all...

To be honest, I agree with these sentiments:

Football has been about greed for a long time. Sky 'invented' the premier league for greed and cut the top division from 22 teams to 20, then banging up the subscription cost and putting games on Pay per view during a pandemic. Players earning more money in a week than most people do in a year. The champions league no longer just featuring the 'Champions'. How about Gary Neville and his rag mates binning of the FA cup in 2000, which he didn't bring up on Sky after banging on about the integrity of football. Rio being paid in full for his suspension then wanting a raise which he forgot about on BT.

This isn't so much about a war on football as it is the media Mafia shoving their agenda down our throats because they have been left behind. The club's who aren't involved definitely would have 'turned this down'. I heard from the Tranmere owner earlier. Yeah, I'm sure you wouldn't have been part of this if you were invited.
